Reporters said that on 31 Jan 2026 at Kham Chanod Island, Ban Muang Subdistrict, Ban Dung District, Udon Thani Province, which coincided with the end-of-January holiday, the site was open for tourists who came to pay respects to the Grandfather and Grandmother spirits, praying for blessings and lottery luck based on their beliefs and faith.
Visitors were required to take a queue card before entering the Kham Chanod palace gate to pay respects. Lottery enthusiasts did not miss the ritual courtyard in front of the island, where people set up tables for rituals to fulfill vows and seek luck.
Today, the ritual leader of Kham Chanod conducted a vow-fulfilling ceremony for villagers from Ban Dung who had gone to do business in Bangkok. They had previously vowed to the Grandfather and Grandmother spirits that if their trade prospered, they would return to fulfill their vow. Having succeeded, they came back to do so today.
After the ceremony, number enthusiasts gathered around to observe the holy water basin filled with yellow candle wax tears, seeing the numbers 5-4-1-3. The incense sticks lit for lottery luck showed numbers 211 and 112. Additionally, the ritual leader displayed a water basin used in a home ceremony revealing clear numbers 6-4-1-2, which people combined into pairs like 64, 46, 12, and 21, hoping for good fortune in the 1 Feb 26 lottery draw.
At the lottery stalls near Kham Chanod Island, a vendor said number 985 sold out quickly, though it was unclear where this number had gained popularity.
