
Devotees gathered in faith to send off"Luk Nimit"the first group in the gold-leaf covering ceremony at Wat Sawang Arom, traveling to a temple in Lampang Province. Lottery enthusiasts did not miss observing"the vehicle license plate"hoping to win the lottery on 16 Mar 2026.
On 7 March 2026, reporters covered the atmosphere in the early afternoon yesterday at Wat Sawang Arom, Kha Khaew, Khun Kaeo Subdistrict, Nakhon Chai Si District, Nakhon Pathom Province. Approaching the final day of the gold-leaf covering ceremony for 9 temples' Luk Nimit totaling 99 balls, which were donated to impoverished temples in 9 remote provinces. The event ran from 12 Feb to 8 Mar 2026. Devotees continued to come to apply gold leaf. Each day during the ceremony, Luang Pho Pae, the well-known abbot, refrained from accepting invitations to perform religious rites, allowing devotees attending to meet him, receive blessings, and have their palms inscribed with yantras for auspiciousness.
Meanwhile, a temple came to receive the Luk Nimit to bring back for their own ceremony. This was Wat Nong Hua Ngok Don Phot Thong in Mueang Lampang District, one of the nine temples selected this year to receive Luk Nimit from the gold-leaf ceremony.
Chief monk Siri Phong Papatsaro, abbot of Wat Nong Hua Ngok Don Phot Thong, led the temple committee, a pickup truck, and a procession of villagers from Lampang to collect the Luk Nimit. Before taking the Luk Nimit, Luang Pho Pae conducted the ritual to invite the Luk Nimit down from its place around the ubosot to the pickup truck, along with the donation box containing offerings from devotees.
The reporter added that devotees who came to apply gold leaf also accompanied the Luk Nimit onto the truck returning to the temple in Lampang. After loading the Luk Nimit, they placed 20 and 100 baht banknotes on it while making wishes.
Additionally, Luang Pho Pae donated 20,000 baht as funds for organizing the event and presented 108 yantra cloths and talismans from Wat Sawang Arom to Wat Nong Hua Ngok Don Phot Thong for distribution to those making merit.
For devotees and lottery hopefuls, the highlight was the license plate of the pickup truck transporting the Luk Nimit back to the temple. The vehicle was a white Toyota Hilux pickup with the license plate "9740 Phuket." Many took photos with their phones to keep for lottery betting, believing that trucks carrying Luk Nimit often bring luck and fortune. After the ceremony, villagers cheered and raised their hands in prayer before the procession departed back to Lampang.
