An 86-year-old woman asked her relatives to take her to pray at Luang Pho Somwang Shrine at Wat Klang Bang Phra in Nakhon Pathom province. Before departing, she did not miss drawing "lucky numbers" from auspicious eggs, hoping they would guide her lottery bets for the 16 March 2026 draw.
At 09:09 on 12 March 2026, reporters described the atmosphere of offerings and devotees who came to pay respects to sacred objects within Wat Klang Bang Phra, Nakhon Pathom. The centerpiece is Luang Pho Somwang, a revered Buddha statue in the Mara Vichai or Mara Subduing posture, standing over 30 meters tall. It is highly respected by both Thai and foreign visitors, with many coming daily to pray for various personal wishes.
Upon arrival, visitors apply gold leaf to the statue's right hand and then pray at an outdoor blessing spot. Offerings believed to please Luang Pho Somwang include pig’s head, chicken eggs, rice, and other items symbolizing wishes fulfilled.
The merit-making event was lively. Mrs. Nong, 86, from Chonburi province, had asked her relatives to take her to pay respects and pray to Luang Pho Somwang. She said she had seen news reports on TV about the statue’s sacred power to grant luck and fortune to worshippers, so she wanted her relatives to bring her to pray and ask for luck from Luang Pho Somwang.
Upon arrival, she purchased flowers, incense, and candles, then offered prayers asking for luck. Since she was unable to climb the stairs, her relatives helped her pay respects, and she gave a gold leaf sheet to them to apply on the statue’s right hand. After completing the rituals, before leaving, Mrs. Nong told her relatives that since she had come and prayed for luck from Luang Pho Somwang,
she then brought a jar containing eggs, had her relatives shake it, and she drew three eggs from the jar. The numbers on them were 6, 3, and 8. Mrs. Nong said she liked these numbers, feeling satisfied and hopeful that Luang Pho Somwang had kindly given her these numbers to receive luck and fortune. She prayed specifically to win a three-digit prize in the lottery, considering that a good outcome.
This was her first time visiting and praying to Luang Pho Somwang. She admitted she liked the numbers she drew because they included 8 and 6, which correspond to her age. In her prayers, she asked for family happiness, safe travels, peace of mind, and good health. She vowed that if she won a big prize, she would return to make merit at the temple for sure.
