An 86-year-old woman asked her relatives to bring her to pray at Luang Pho Somwang at Wat Klang Bang Phra in Nakhon Pathom. Before leaving, she did not miss drawing 'lucky numbers' from auspicious eggs, hoping to use them as a guide for the 16 March 2026 lottery.
At 09:09 a.m. on 12 March 2026, reporters described the atmosphere of merit-making and worshippers visiting the sacred sites at Wat Klang Bang Phra, Nakhon Pathom. The temple houses the revered Luang Pho Somwang, a sacred Buddha statue in the Mara Vichai posture, standing over 30 meters tall, respected by both Thai and foreign visitors. Each day, many people come to pray for various blessings.
Upon arrival, visitors close gold leaf onto the right hand of the statue and then proceed to pray at an outdoor blessing area. Offerings believed to please Luang Pho Somwang include pig's head, chicken eggs, rice, and somwang (a type of fruit).
The merit-making atmosphere was lively. Yai Nong, aged 86 from Chonburi province, had asked her relatives to take her to pray at Luang Pho Somwang. She had seen on television news that the statue was considered sacred and granted luck and fortune to worshippers. She wanted her relatives to bring her to pray and ask for blessings and luck from Luang Pho Somwang.
Upon arrival, she bought flowers, incense, and candles, recited prayers to ask for luck, and had her relatives help support her to pay respects. She gave a sheet of gold leaf to her relatives to place on the right hand of Luang Pho Somwang because she was unable to climb the stairs herself. After completing the rituals, before leaving, Yai Nong told her relatives that since she had come and prayed for luck from Luang Pho Somwang,
she then took a container holding auspicious eggs for her relatives to shake. She personally drew three eggs from the container and got the numbers 6, 3, and 8. Yai Nong said she liked these numbers and felt satisfied because she believed Luang Pho Somwang had kindly given these numbers for her to receive luck and fortune. She prayed to win a three-digit lottery prize, hoping for good fortune.
This was her first time visiting Luang Pho Somwang, and she admitted she liked the numbers she drew because they matched her age digits, including 8 and 6. In her prayer, she wished for her family to have happiness, safe travels, peace of mind, and good health. She vowed to return to make merit if she won a big prize.
