On 13 March 2026 GMT+7, reporters reported that at Wat Nong Pho, also known as Luang Pho Derm Temple, in Takli District, Nakhon Sawan Province, devotees continue to come to pay respects and pray before the statue of "Luang Pho Derm," known as the deity of the Si Kwai region, a famous monk renowned for his powerful sacred objects.
Some devotees bring flowers, incense, red soda, toys, slingshots, and toy soldier sets to the temple's dining hall, which houses the statue of "Dek Chai Ko," the legendary temple boy and disciple of Luang Pho Derm, famed for his loyalty, honesty, and diligence. He followed his family from the Northeast to farm from about age 8 or 9.
When Luang Pho Derm passed away in 1951 at age 91, Dek Chai Ko disappeared as well, believed to have returned to live with his family in the Northeast.
The temple erected a statue in his honor. Since then, the statue has attracted attention, as visitors seeking luck have won the first prize before. Today, visitors again drew numbers from the urn, receiving number 159, hoping to win in the upcoming government lottery on 16 March 2026.
