Daughter Distressed, Mother Calls Crying Before Discovering They Won 12 Million Baht Lottery Prize

Samut Prakan — A woman who owns a glass and aluminum installation shop got lucky by winning two first-prize lottery tickets, receiving a total prize of 12 million baht. She immediately called her daughter, crying with joy, admitting she kept telling herself, “This is real.” Initially, she intended to buy number 509, but the seller said, “Only 009 is left. Do you want it?”

On 17 March 2026, a reporter reported that at 5:30 p.m. yesterday (16 March 2026) at Samrong Tai Police Station in Samut Prakan, Mrs. Phattharawadee Thawon, 56, from Bang Prong Subdistrict, Mueang Samut Prakan District, Samut Prakan Province, filed a police report with Deputy Superintendent Pol. Lt. Col. Prachuap Khaetsantiya. She reported winning two government lottery tickets, number 833009, for the draw dated 16 March 2026, each worth 6 million baht, totaling 12 million baht. Mrs. Phattharawadee and her family have operated a glass and aluminum installation shop for many years near Erawan Soi, Pu Chao Saming Phrai Road.

The atmosphere was filled with joy as neighbors and acquaintances came to congratulate the family, known for their hard work. When the daughter learned that her parents had won the first prize, she was shocked and happy that her parents would finally have financial relief, shedding tears of joy.

Ms. Bee, 21, the daughter of the lucky winner, said she felt indescribably happy that her father had won the big lottery prize, as her family regularly buys lottery tickets. In the latest draw, her mother purchased 10 tickets. When the results were announced, her mother called her, her voice trembling with sobs and tears. At the time, she was speaking with a customer and couldn’t fully understand. After hanging up, she tried to call her mother back, but the call wasn’t answered. This made her anxious, fearing something might have happened to her mother.

A colleague asked what was wrong, and she explained she felt uneasy because her mother had called crying but was not answering her return calls. She then decided to call her niece, who was with her grandmother, and the niece told her that her mother had won the first prize, receiving 12 million baht. She cried in shock, then composed herself and hurried home to see her parents.

Mrs. Phattharawadee, 56, the lucky winner, recounted that after verifying the winning numbers for two first-prize tickets, she cried quietly to herself alone (her husband was at the shop at the time). She whispered to herself, “This is real.” Her granddaughter was present. She explained that the numbers were purchased during a study visit with the local municipality on 11 March. She went to the first gas station she passed to buy the tickets on that day.

“I wanted number 509, the birth year of my husband, but it was sold out. The seller said only 009 was left and asked if I wanted it. I agreed. The seller set up a stall in front of a restroom. I bought the tickets and kept them in my bag. My goal is to use the prize money to pay off the house, car, and other debts.”

Mrs. Phattharawadee’s husband said that he usually buys lottery tickets every draw but fewer than his wife, who buys more. This time, she bought about 7-8 tickets. He was very happy. Seeing her cry, he wondered why, as she had seemed happy moments earlier. She ran to hug him and whispered that she had won two first-prize tickets. Then she hugged her wife. Knowing his wife had won, he felt only joy and suggested they file a police report. Initially, she wanted to keep the tickets, but they agreed to go to Samrong Tai Police Station.
