On 29 March 2026 at Hong Nithra Thammasawang Cemetery, the Sung Noen Sawang Saeng Thammasathan Foundation in Sung Noen district, Nakhon Ratchasima province, held its third public charity event to collect unclaimed bodies. Mr. Somkiat Kiatkamjaikajorn, chairman of the Sawang Saeng Tham Foundation in Sung Noen, along with representatives from 72 affiliated foundations and the foundation’s staff, participated in the event. The atmosphere was solemn yet lively as the foundation carried out this sacred traditional activity, which will continue until 12 May 2026—a total of 49 days—amid many faithful citizens and lottery enthusiasts who came to join the ceremony and eagerly observe for lucky numbers.
For this event, the third unclaimed bodies committee, together with a network of 72 foundations, cooperated to collect over 800 unclaimed bodies at Hong Nithra Thammasathan Cemetery in Sung Noen district. The cemetery opening on 28 March marked the first day of this collection ceremony, which will continue until 24 April 2026.
A key highlight generating excitement was the opening ceremony of the inaugural grave. A spiritual medium performed the ritual before opening “Grave number 39,” the first grave of the day. Attendees, many dressed in white, participated in the ceremony together, with many noting the grave number to use as a lucky number for lottery betting, following their beliefs.
Additionally, important ceremonies are scheduled toward the event's end. On 25 April there will be a closing ceremony for Hong Nithra Thammasawang Cemetery, followed by a cremation meeting at 4:00 p.m. on 3 May, and a bone collection ceremony using traditional silver and gold baskets on 4 May, in accordance with ancient customs.
