At 08:00 at the Thap Lan National Park Protection Unit 17, Ban Dan Lako, Non Sombun Subdistrict, Soeng Sang District, Nakhon Ratchasima Province, Mr. Arthit Wangsupakijkosol, Member of Parliament for Nakhon Ratchasima District 11, along with Mr. Apichai Janma, Soeng Sang District Chief, and Mr. Kris Nuuraksa, Chief of Non Sombun Subdistrict Administrative Organization, jointly opened the veneration ceremony of the giant thousand-year-old Golden Takhian tree, wide enough for 13 people to encircle, still standing in the heart of Thap Lan National Park, about 4.5 kilometers from Protection Unit 17.
This giant Golden Takhian tree is the largest of its kind in Thailand and is one of the 15 great heritage trees under the royal patronage celebrating the 65th birthday anniversary of His Majesty King Rama X. It is also one of the 10 most valuable large trees of the land, currently measuring over 12 meters in circumference, nearly 60 meters tall, and remains firmly alive and strong.
This event is held annually by the Non Sombun Subdistrict Administrative Organization and local villagers under the project "Veneration Ceremony of the Golden Takhian Tree" before the Songkran Festival for auspiciousness, to invoke the Golden Takhian Mother to protect the forest and natural resources, ensuring abundance, and to safeguard the well-being and happiness of local people during the Songkran or Thai New Year festival.
The morning activities included Buddhist rites and veneration of the Golden Takhian Mother Shrine at Protection Unit 17. Attendees were invited to sign their names on golden cloth, then led on foot to the site where the giant Golden Takhian tree stands.
They then performed a second veneration of the Golden Takhian Mother Shrine number 560, located in front of the giant tree, followed by parading the signed golden cloth around the thousand-year-old tree three times before tying it around the trunk, demonstrating their faith and belief in the Golden Takhian Mother.Golden.Giant Thousand-Year-Old Thap Lan.
Not to be missed was the final ritual of lighting incense to seek lucky numbers, conducted every year.
