Thousands of devotees gathered for the cloth-wrapping ceremony of "Luang Pho Somwang" at Wat Klang Bang Phra. Lottery fans did not miss the chance to seek this week's lucky numbers, aiming to win on 16 Apr 2026, believing in the statue's annual blessings.

On 15 Apr 2026 GMT+7, reporters noted that in the afternoon at Wat Klang Bang Phra (Luang Pho Somwang), Bang Phra Subdistrict, Nakhon Chai Si District, Nakhon Pathom Province, Phra Kru Srisutakorn, the abbot of Wat Klang Bang Phra, conducted the cloth-wrapping ceremony for Luang Pho Somwang, a 30-meter-high Buddha statue. This event takes place annually during the Songkran festival and has been held for over 40 years. Locals carry a cloth over 30 meters long from the temple entrance, parading it over a distance of more than 2 km to the front of Luang Pho Somwang so temple staff can drape it over the statue.

The atmosphere was lively, with thousands of devotees attending the ceremony. They held the yellow cloth edges above their heads under the intense heat, but the faithfulremained undeterred. They believe that Luang Pho Somwang will grant them luck and wealth. When the procession reached the temple in front of Luang Pho Somwang, Phra Kru Srisutakorn led the cloth to be draped over the statue, joined by Anucha Sasomsap, Member of Parliament for Nakhon Pathom.

Leading the devotees, they held the cloth edges and moved from the front up the stairs to the statue, then performed the ritual to hand the yellow cloth to the staff who draped it over Luang Pho Somwang amid chants of blessings.

After the ceremony, a water-pouring ritual was held in the courtyard in front of the temple. A replica of Luang Pho Somwang was placed for devotees to pour water on for good fortune. Afterwards, in front of the temple, Songkran festivities took place, with the Luang Pho Somwang Disaster Relief Unit providing water trucks and foam machines to spray the streets, allowing children and devotees to enjoy water splashing.

Interviewed, Somwang Supachokchai, 45, from Kanchanaburi, said he brought his family to make merit in Nakhon Pathom and intended to pay respects to Luang Pho Somwang. He did not expect it to be a special day with the cloth-wrapping ceremony—a great merit and auspicious occasion. Upon hearing the temple announcer say the cloth would be offered to Luang Pho Somwang, he took his family to join the procession and hold the cloth edge, as it only happens once a year.

They also participated in pouring water on a replica of Luang Pho Somwang and on a cast statue of Luang Pho Phut, a famous former abbot, as well as on all the monks. This was seen as a good omen to encounter the cloth-wrapping event. During the procession, they made wishes, asking for wealth, for their familyto have happiness, and for success in their business endeavors.

Meanwhile, Piboon Jansamit, a resident of Village 4, Bang Phra Subdistrict, Nakhon Chai Si District, said every year villagers join the cloth-wrapping procession to make merit for the temple, as the temple holds this event annually on 15 Apr, during Songkran, only once a year. This year, more people came than usual because everyone believes in the sacred power of Luang Pho Somwang, who grants wealth to the community.

Especially Phra Kru Srisutakorn, the abbot, who never neglectsthe villagers. He regularly distributes essentials to villagers each month, helping those who have had house fires, the poor, and bedridden patients, which has earned the community's deep faith and strong turnout for the event.

For those interested in lottery numbers, they did not miss taking the auspicious numbersto buy lottery tickets, such as the temple's house number 86 or the number 44,which marks the number of yearssince the cloth-wrapping ceremony began for Luang Pho Somwang, becausethey believethese numbers appear every year, hoping to win the 16 Apr 2026 lottery draw.
