On 17 April 2026 GMT+7, reporters reported that at the home of Mr. Soak in Faorai Subdistrict, Faorai District, Nong Khai Province, a family was fortunate to win 6 million baht in the lottery. The winner, Mrs. Buason Ratthon, known as Grandma Son, aged 65, had just arrived in Udon Thani with her grandson and granddaughter to prepare for flying to the Government Lottery Office to claim the prize. Relatives and neighbors gathered at the house to congratulate them.
According to the granddaughter, the person who gave the lottery tip was their grandson named Leo. He often suggests lottery numbers to his grandfather and grandmother, and they have won with two- and three-digit endings multiple times. This time, he suggested number 12, so the grandfather bought it and won the big prize. Yesterday evening (16 April), they went to register the win at Faorai Police Station.
Mr. Somporn Ratthon, or Grandpa Ad, aged 66, husband of Grandma Buason, said the grandson gave the lottery tip but he had no money to buy tickets, so his younger brother bought two tickets as a Songkran gift. The two tickets had different front numbers, so only one won. After receiving the tickets, they kept them with Grandma Buason to protect them from water damage during the Songkran festival.
All the money will be entrusted to Grandma Buason to manage. They plan to buy one rubber plantation and repurchase farmland they sold years ago. The remaining money will be used to pay off a significant loan with the Bank for Agriculture and Agricultural Cooperatives (BAAC) and to support their children and grandchildren.
Grandma Buason said in a phone interview that she felt very happy and speechless. She was currently traveling to Udon Thani with her grandson and granddaughter to prepare to fly to the Government Lottery Office to claim the prize. Before winning, there were no signs or omens—she only bought number 12 as her grandson suggested. She said the money would first be used to pay debts.
