Tour Company Staff Lead Tourists in Merit-Making at Luang Pho Somwang Temple, Seek Lucky Numbers from Thao Wessuwan for Lottery

A tour company employee led tourists on a merit-making tour at "Luang Pho Somwang Temple," where they paid respects and asked for blessings for good fortune. They also picked ping-pong balls for divination in front of the Thao Wessuwan statue, taking the "lucky numbers" from this round to try their luck in the 2 April 2026 lottery.

A reporter reported that on the morning of 24 April 2026, at Wat Klang Bang Phra (Luang Pho Somwang), Bang Phra Subdistrict, Nakhon Chai Si District, Nakhon Pathom province, devotees, tourists, and lottery enthusiasts gathered to make merit, pay respects, and ask for blessings and luck from Luang Pho Somwang, a 30-meter-tall Buddha statue. Additionally, worshippers flocked to pay respects and seek blessings from the Thao Wessuwan statue, which is over 50 years old and was brought from Wat Chulamani by the late revered abbot Luang Pho Phut.

Inside the sanctuary housing the Thao Wessuwan statue, the current abbot of Wat Klang Bang Phra, Phra Kru Srisutakorn, has renovated and redecorated the statue, overlaying the original cement figure with a two-meter-tall blackened statue. Around the statue are red yantra cloths tied around the body, along with red garlands draped over the arms and the mace, all tightly arranged.

Furthermore, the temple has placed seven-colored auspicious incense sticks in front of the Thao Wessuwan statue for worshippers to pray for luck and then light according to their birth-day color. There are also ping-pong balls available for visitors to draw and divine numbers.

When asked, Ms. Suwaporn Chongkol, 36, a tour company employee, said she often leads merit-making tours where they pay respects and ask for luck from Luang Pho Somwang and Thao Wessuwan. Personally, she prays for good work and many clients. Her tours rarely disappoint, with bookings often full. Today was no exception, bringing a group to pay respects and seek luck. She also announced the temple’s annual event "Homage to Luang Pho Somwang" from 22-28 April 2026 to her tour group to encourage participation.

Personally, besides praying for work success, today she also paid respect to the Thao Wessuwan statue because of the temple’s annual event, hoping for a big blessing. Representing her tour group, she drew three ping-pong balls in front of the statue, getting the number 346. She prayed to receive luck as hoped, according to his name, and promised to bring the whole team back for a larger merit-making event.
