Devotees flock to pay respects to "Luang Pho Sila" at Thung Saliam Temple in Sukhothai Province, lighting incense sticks to request lucky numbers for 2 Apr 2026, hoping to become new millionaires.
On 29 Apr 2026 at 15:00, reporters visited Thung Saliam Temple in Thung Saliam District, Sukhothai Province, following social media buzz about the sacredness of "Luang Pho Sila" and his blessings for worshippers. A popular TikTok personality named "Doctor Phi Saowaree," who has hundreds of thousands of followers, posted about the sacred history and miracles of Luang Pho Sila.
She recommended that everyone visit to pay respects at least once in their lifetime, especially those born on Saturday, those born in the years of the Dragon or Snake, and anyone seeking peace and happiness. She advised asking for luck, financial prosperity, business success, and economic turnaround, as well as offering bat dolls or statues, since bats are considered followers of Luang Pho Sila.
The atmosphere inside the temple was lively, with tourists and spiritual followers continuously coming to pay respects throughout the day. After worshipping the original statue of Luang Pho Sila inside the pavilion, visitors then pay respects and apply gold leaf to a replica statue located beside it.
A lottery vendor at the temple area revealed that over the past five to six days, visitors from many provinces, both near and far, have noticeably increased, with daily numbers not less than 100 to 200 people, coming throughout the day. Some come following social media posts, making the temple atmosphere livelier. It is expected that the upcoming holidays will draw even larger crowds.
Reporters added that some lottery hopefuls lit incense sticks in front of the replica Luang Pho Sila statue and received the number 434. However, the upper '4' later faded, leaving only the number 34 visible, which caused considerable surprise.
Besides Luang Pho Sila, who is widely worshipped for luck, there are also paintings on the pillars and doors of the pavilion that locals frequently receive blessings from and often hire performers to present offerings regularly.
