Having obtained her dream home, a 37-year-old woman performed a dance ritual to fulfill her vow to the “Four Lineage Nagas” at Wat Khlong Kaphua, also lighting incense sticks to seek lottery numbers from Thao Wessuwan. Lottery fans did not miss the chance to observe the “lucky numbers” for the 16 May 2026 lottery draw.
On 12 May 2026 at Wat Khlong Kaphua, Ban Khon Subdistrict, Phichai District, Uttaradit Province, Phra Ajarn Saksit Silatecho, the abbot of Wat Khlong Kaphua, led a group of tourists, both Thai and foreign, to visit the Four Lineage Naga Cave, which has been developed as a spiritual tourist attraction.
Inside the Four Lineage Naga Cave are statues of men and women meditating around a sacred pond. Each lineage is represented by a different color: Virupaksa lineage (gold - highest), Erapat lineage (green - emphasizing kindness), Chappayaputta lineage (rainbow - emphasizing beauty), and Kanhakotama lineage (black - emphasizing fierceness and power).
Besides the Four Lineage Naga Cave, the temple grounds feature many sacred objects for worship and blessing requests, such as a 19-meter-tall golden-red statue of Thao Wessuwan, the largest of its kind in lower northern Thailand, and a 5-meter-tall red-mud-colored Thao Wessuwan statue believed by locals to have powerful luck-bringing properties.
Additionally, there are statues of Lord Vishnu reclining on the seven-headed Ananta Naga, surrounded by the sacred pond, Mother Earth Goddess, the dragon horse, Grandfather Srisuttho, Grandmother Sripathumma, the seven-headed Naga, and many others. Both Thai and foreign spiritual tourists regularly visit to worship, ask for luck, health, and career success, and after receiving blessings, they return to fulfill their vows by offering boiled pig heads, chickens, boiled eggs, fruits, dolls, and sometimes by ordaining or performing dance rituals.
Today, while Phra Ajarn Saksit led tourists to worship sacred objects around the temple and was touring the Four Lineage Naga Cave, a 37-year-old woman named Ms. Petchrat Thongkam from Tha Sak Subdistrict, dressed in a Mae Ya Kaew Kham Klong Nakini costume and carrying a sacred teacher image, entered the cave. She brought a steel image of Mother Earth Goddess, along with marigold garlands and offerings to present to the Nagas, creating excitement among the tourists inside the cave.
Ms. Petchrat expressed her intention to perform a dance ritual to fulfill her vow to the Four Lineage Nagas inside the cave, as she had prayed for a house and her wish was granted. She then conducted a ceremony presenting offerings before the Four Lineage Nagas and performed a graceful dance to the ritual music of Kham Chanod, which captivated the spiritual tourists watching attentively.
Afterwards, Ms. Petchrat took the sacred teacher image and offerings to perform a dance ritual to open fortune and luck before the 5-meter-tall red-mud-colored Thao Wessuwan statue, which local people believe has powerful luck-bringing properties.
Following her offering and dance ritual to Thao Wessuwan, she lit incense sticks used for fortune-telling that had been blessed to open luck and merit. The devotees and tourists patiently waited for the incense to burn out, revealing the number 419, which many photographed to use for the upcoming 16 May lottery draw.
Ms. Petchrat revealed that she came to fulfill her vow because she has long held faith in the Nagas. In late November 2025, she desired to have a house but had no means and felt very stressed due to personal problems. One night she dreamed that someone told her to pray to the Four Lineage Nagas at Wat Khlong Kaphua. Upon waking, she shared the dream with her family.
She then traveled to the temple to pray to the Four Lineage Nagas, asking to have her desired house soon. She vowed that if her wish came true, she would perform a full dance ritual in honor of the Nagas. After praying, she applied for a three-million-baht home loan from a bank, which was approved easily despite her lack of confidence, and she received the house by late December 2025.
After acquiring the house, she resumed her normal work. Recently, she dreamed of a large crocodile instructing her to fulfill her vow, warning that failure to do so would lead to hardship due to breaking her promise. Upon waking, she recalled her vow to the Four Lineage Nagas at Wat Khlong Kaphua. Today, dressed like the legendary Mae Ya Nakini, carrying sacred images and offerings, she came to perform the dance ritual. At the temple, she encountered a large crocodile statue at the cave entrance, representing the guardian deity’s vehicle, just as in her dream.
