Woman Fulfills Vow to Luang Pho Somwang After Cancer Recovery, Seeks Lucky Numbers for 1/6/26 Lottery

A woman fulfilled her vow to Luang Pho Somwang at Wat Klang Bang Phra in Nakhon Pathom after recovering from cancer. Her granddaughter did not forget to ask for "lucky numbers" for the lottery draw on 1 June 2026, hoping to use any winnings from the vow fulfillment to care for her grandmother.

On 26 May 2026 GMT+7, reporters described the atmosphere at Wat Klang Bang Phra, Bang Phra Subdistrict, Nakhon Chai Si District, Nakhon Pathom, where many people came to pay respects to sacred objects and bring offerings to fulfill vows with lively activity. Some came specifically to fulfill vows, others to seek luck, and some to find spiritual support by making merit and offering Sangha Dana according to their personal beliefs. The revered Luang Pho Somwang Buddha statue, in the Mara Vichai posture or the 'startled Mara' pose, stands over 30 meters tall in the temple's spacious grounds. It is respected by both Thai people and foreigners, especially Chinese tourists who are Buddhists engaged in business. When they visit Thailand, they make a point to pay respects and ask for blessings from Luang Pho Somwang, believing that doing so will bring success to their businesses, making it well known among the Chinese community.

Yesterday, Mrs. Jamrien, 78, from Samut Songkhram, came carrying nine pig heads and 19 trays of chicken eggs to fulfill her vow to Luang Pho Somwang. She focused her mind in prayer as she made the offering and rang the victory bell. Mrs. Jamrien revealed that two years ago, she went for a medical checkup due to stomach pain at a hospital. The diagnosis was colon cancer, which had started spreading to her lungs. Doctors scheduled surgery. Before the operation, her family took her to pay respects and ask for blessings from Luang Pho Somwang. She prayed for good health, a successful surgery, and complete removal of the cancer. She promised that if cured, she would offer chicken eggs and pig heads to fulfill her vow.

She then underwent surgery and had to stay in the hospital for about a month to recover. Doctors allowed her to continue treatment at home but required weekly check-ups, which later became monthly. Two weeks ago, a major X-ray scan showed no signs of cancer. Upon receiving the results, she felt relieved, as did her family, who felt as if she had been given a new life. She did not forget the promise made to Luang Pho Somwang, so today she brought her family to the temple to pay respects and present the pig heads and eggs to fulfill her vow.

Ms. Amporn, her granddaughter, said that when they first brought her grandmother to pray and ask for blessings from Luang Pho Somwang, she was skeptical and thought she would have to care for her grandmother until the end. It seemed unbelievable that her grandmother recovered from such a serious illness and could walk around comfortably, with doctors confirming the cancer was gone. When her grandmother invited her today, she volunteered to come to pay respects and ask for luck from Luang Pho Somwang, believing the statue helped cure her grandmother and could also bring good fortune. Having spent a lot on treatment, she took the opportunity to ask for a big win, promising to offer more if successful. She then shook a jar and drew out three eggs numbered 5, 0, and 9, which she believes are auspicious numbers. She plans to use these numbers to try her luck in the lottery draw on 1 June 2026.
