On 30 May 2026, reports stated that the atmosphere near lottery day at Wat Sawang Arom, Kaeo Thao, Khun Kaeo Subdistrict, Nakhon Chai Si District, Nakhon Pathom, was lively on 29 May. This was due to the long holiday and the proximity to a major merit-making day. “Visakha Bucha Day” caused devotees to come early to pay respects, pray, and seek good fortune.
Meanwhile, Phra Kru Yothi Thammanuyut, also known as “Luang Pho Pae” conducted a Buddha consecration ceremony for the Phra Lee Kamphaeng Sok statue, marking the fifth and final ritual of the month with five Saturdays. For the final ritual, renowned monks were invited, including Phra Ratchawachiramoli or Luang Pho Somchai, acting regional chief monk of Region 14 from Wat Rakhangkhositaram in Bangkok; Luang Pho Phananthawiriyaporn or Chao Khun Ang from Wat Yai Sawang Arom in Nonthaburi; and several others, drawing many devotees who came to pay respects and join the ceremony.
At the same time, Mrs. Kanokthip Taeng-ngam, 60, president of the Bangkok Disabled Association, along with her 35-year-old daughter, Ms. Kanokwan Mainoi, brought wheelchairs to fulfill their vow to “Grandfather Thong Ngiu Rai.” They donated 19 wheelchairs through Luang Pho Pae: 3 tricycles, 6 foldable wheelchairs, and 10 reclining wheelchairs. The donation was made in gratitude for winning two 2nd prize lottery tickets and with the purpose that Luang Pho Pae would use them to assist elderly and disabled visitors who have difficulty walking at the temple.
Ms. Kanokwan represented her mother by lighting incense and informing the statue of Grandfather Thong Ngiu Rai, as her mother could not walk up to the pavilion due to leg disability from an accident and uses a wheelchair, preventing her from entering the temple hall.
After lighting incense, Ms. Kanokwan revealed that on the previous lottery draw day, 16 May 2026, she and her family took her mother to pay respects and pray to sacred objects at the temple, hoping to visit Luang Pho Pae after seeing on TV that this temple had brought fortune to many people. They came to make merit and pay respects to the sacred at the temple. Upon arrival, they found Luang Pho Pae as hoped. While he was giving a Dharma talk, they noticed many people going up to the temple hall and decided to go up as well.
It turned out that many devotees were gathered closely to observe the wax drop numbers, so she stopped to watch and sat down, clasping her hands in prayer to Grandfather Thong Ngiu Rai, asking for luck and fortune. She also vowed that if she received a large fortune, she would make a major offering in return.
Afterward, she bought two lottery tickets from a vendor inside the temple and took them home. Four days after the draw, she remembered to check the tickets and found they had won the 2nd prize. She claimed the prize of 400,000 baht and discussed with her mother about what to offer in fulfillment of their vow. Her mother advised donating wheelchairs to Luang Pho Pae to be used by elderly visitors, as the temple is frequented by many seniors. This would also bring blessings for the health and wealth of their descendants. They then purchased 19 wheelchairs to fulfill the vow, which explains the donation.
After completing the donation, Ms. Kanokwan said she did not forget to ask for lucky numbers again by reaching into a bowl in front of Grandfather Thong Ngiu Rai, drawing three balls and getting the number 410. She also saw the wax drop numbers in the holy water basin as 5320. She plans to buy lottery tickets with these numbers and, if she wins, intends to make another major offering.
