Devotees gathered to celebrate the 54th birthday and 34th ordination anniversary of Luang Phi Namfon, acting abbot of Wat Phai Lom, while lottery enthusiasts collected lucky numbers for the 16/6/26 draw related to him.
A reporter reported that on 12 June 2026 at Wat Phai Lom Royal Monastery, the monks and devotees joined to pay respects and celebrate the 54th birthday and 34th ordination anniversary of Phra Kru Palat Sitthiwat, also known as Luang Phi Namfon, the acting abbot of Wat Phai Lom in Mueang Nakhon Pathom district.
From early morning, a mass ordination ceremony was held as part of a free ordination project for June 2026. Six individuals joined the program to become monks. Afterwards, a Buddhist chanting ceremony was conducted for blessings, led by Phra Thep Phawanawachirakhun (Sirivat Sirivatno), the provincial monk chief of Chachoengsao and abbot of Wat Sothonwararam Worawihan, as the presiding monk. The lay ceremony was chaired by Lieutenant General Phas It Wetchawatana, former military expert, and Mr. Somchat Saleepattana (known as "Jao Sua Ngieb"), owner of Mr. Ngieb’s Fish Ball Noodle Shop.
During the ceremony, devotees and the public filled the Phra Buddha Metta Prathan Phon Hall. In front of the temple, over 50 stalls offered free food and drinks to attendees throughout the event. Luang Phi Namfon and his disciples also distributed alms by giving 100 baht to each impoverished person after everyone had eaten. More than a thousand poor people, having heard about the event, came to receive aid. Temple staff organized orderly queues to maintain order, and the distribution took over two hours to complete.
Luang Phi Namfon gave blessings to the gathered disciples this year and shared a thought: “Doing things only for yourself lasts until your last breath, but doing for society remains even after death.” His main work focuses on continuing Buddhism. This year, he advanced the Bank of Encouragement project to urgently assist impoverished devotees by providing hospital beds, wheelchairs, daily living supplies, promoting education, arts, culture, and 14 ongoing projects. Additionally, this year the temple collaborated with the Thai Sangha Assembly in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of China to promote international Buddhist work. This marks another step making Wat Phai Lom a temple rich in diversity in all dimensions.
The event also launched the Paiboon Sri Dvaravati Learning Center, dedicated to researching and collecting data and artifacts related to the Dvaravati Kingdom. This center serves as a hub for youth and the public to learn important information and understand the roots of the people of Nakhon Pathom province for generations to come.
Meanwhile, lottery players did not forget to take numbers associated with Luang Phi Namfon to buy "lucky numbers" for the 16/6/26 draw, according to their beliefs. These include his age 54, 34 years ordained, his birth date 12 June 1972, and his ordination date 16 April 1993, resulting in numbers related to Luang Phi Namfon being sold out at nearly every stall.
