A devout woman fulfilled her vow to Luang Pho Somwang at Wat Klang Bang Phra in Nakhon Pathom after her daughter passed a civil service exam, not forgetting to seek lucky numbers to try her luck in the upcoming lottery draw.
At 10:09 a.m. on 19 Jun 2026 GMT+7 at Wat Klang Bang Phra, Bang Phra Subdistrict, Nakhon Chai Si District, Nakhon Pathom, people arrived to fulfill vows and pay respects with deep faith. "Luang Pho Somwang" The sacred Buddha statue in the Mara Vichai (subduing Mara) posture, standing over 30 meters tall, is deeply revered by both Thai and foreign worshippers who come to pay respects and make vows. Those who receive blessings or succeed after making vows customarily bring offerings to fulfill their promises.
For example, Ms. Kingkaew, 45, from Nakhon Pathom, came to fulfill her vow to Luang Pho Somwang by bringing 1,200 eggs, 99 garlands, and 10 trays of water chestnuts. Smiling brightly, she arranged the offerings in front of the statue, then lit incense to pray and struck the victory gong so that Luang Pho Somwang and the deities would recognize her vow fulfillment. Afterward, she placed a gold leaf on the large statue’s right hand while paying respects.
When asked, Ms. Kingkaew revealed she came today to pay respects and fulfill her vow for her daughter who passed the civil service exam with the Royal Irrigation Department. She explained that one week before the exam, she secretly came to pray to Luang Pho Somwang, having heard of his reputation for granting success. She was afraid her daughter might consider it superstitious, so she came alone. She vowed that if her daughter passed, she would offer 1,200 eggs, 99 garlands, and 10 trays of water chestnuts. Her daughter took the exam, passed, and received the official letter to report for duty.
Ms. Kingkaew expressed great joy but did not tell her daughter about the vow. Taking advantage of a day off work, she came to fulfill the promise. She felt very relieved, having kept her word, and believes Luang Pho Somwang granted success. However, she still hopes for one more blessing: luck. She wonders if the statue will grant her good fortune to help with expenses for her daughter and family.
Before leaving, she lit auspicious incense sticks placed in front of Luang Pho Somwang and waited until they burned out. The incense revealed the numbers 3 5 6. She vowed that if she wins a big prize, she will bring offerings including a pig’s head, eggs, and rice to fulfill another vow. Before departing, she bought lottery tickets at a stall near the temple.
