Devotees held a ceremony honoring ancestral teachers at Wat Wang O in Uttaradit. During the ritual, strong winds broke a blessed incense stick, prompting people to flock and interpret the three-digit lucky number for the 1 July 2026 lottery draw.
On 22 June 2026, a reporter reported that at 09:19 a.m., Buddhist devotees in Ban Siao Subdistrict, Fak Tha District, Uttaradit Province, united to hold a sacred merit-making tradition at Wat Wang O to preserve good cultural heritage, express gratitude, and enhance life’s blessings.
The morning ritual began with paying homage to ancestral teachers led by monks and disciples, who together honored Phra Kru Sunthon Sutanusak (a respected ancestral teacher in the local community) to remember his virtues. The ceremony included pouring water and draping cloth over the sacred relics before monks and villagers jointly carried the water and cloth to venerate the temple’s sacred relics, an important sacred site.
Towards the end of the ceremony, a ritual was performed to honor sacred spirits with offerings including eggs, fish, pig heads, chicken, various sweets, sweet drinks, and assorted fruits.
Then, a blessed incense was lit revealing the numbers 313, initially showing 3 and 1 as the incense burned in sequence. During the ritual, a strong wind blew, seemingly signaling the sacredness of the event, causing the incense to break before revealing the final digit 3. Attendees took this as a lucky number to try their luck in the lottery.
After the religious and Brahmin rituals concluded, offerings from the ceremony were shared with all participants to eat for personal and family good fortune. The event was filled with warmth and unity among the Ban Siao community and nearby areas, who came together to preserve this valuable tradition for future generations.
