Rescue workers captured a 4-meter-long giant python that invaded the home of a 75-year-old woman, prompting locals to flock to see the house number, hoping to use it for lottery luck in the 16 July 2026 draw.
At 1:00 a.m. on 7 July 2026 GMT+7, the radio center of the Sawang Rojanatham Sattahip Rescue Foundation received a call for help from Mrs. Phailin Subphana, 75, who lives in a house in Sattahip subdistrict, Sattahip district, Chonburi province. She reported a large snake had entered and taken refuge inside her home and requested that officials send help to catch and release it back to nature.
The rescue radio center then dispatched Mr. Wicha Jindanil, rescue call sign 142, and Mr. Mongkol Luipong, rescue call sign 312, both experts in handling venomous and nonvenomous reptiles, to provide immediate assistance.
Upon inspection, the snake was identified as a large python over 4 meters long that had hidden inside a storage room. Initially, the rescue workers used a rope loop tool to successfully catch the snake around its neck before carefully carrying it out of the house.
A reporter noted that while catching the python was straightforward, it took two rescue workers and two local men—four people in total—over 10 minutes to place the struggling snake into a plastic sack. The python resisted strongly, seemingly reluctant to leave the house. After securing it, they safely released it back into the wild.
Mrs. Phailin, the homeowner, revealed that about a month ago, the same snake had appeared and eaten several cats inside the house. She had tried to catch it by grabbing its tail but was overpowered due to the snake’s large size, allowing it to escape.
Today, the snake appeared again, raising its head on the roof. Mrs. Phailin promptly called rescue workers to capture and release it. This was the first time such a large snake had entered her home. She believes it might be a guardian spirit snake that had lived there for a long time but could no longer coexist. She also hopes it brings good luck and plans to use the house number 73/22 for the upcoming lottery draw.
