71-Year-Old Man Wins 6 Million Baht Jackpot, Credits 10 Years of Merit from Cooking Rice to Feed Temple Dogs

Cheers erupted at home as a 71-year-old man became a new millionaire after winning the first prize lottery worth 6 million baht. He revealed that he has been making merit by cooking two pots of rice daily to feed dogs at a temple continuously for over 10 years, praying that his good deeds would bring blessings and turn his hopes into reality.

On 16 Jul 2026, after the Government Lottery Office announced the results for the 16 July 2026 draw, with the first prize number 639214, reporters were informed that a lucky winner from Buriram province had won the first prize with one ticket, receiving 6 million baht. The winner is Mr. Nuay Jianram, 71, from Ban Dan district, Buriram.

Reporters then visited Mr. Nuay’s home, where many relatives and villagers had gathered to offer congratulations. The atmosphere was filled with smiles and cheers as people tied blessing strings on his wrist according to tradition and took commemorative photos. Mr. Nuay showed the winning lottery ticket to reporters before embracing and kissing his wife in joy amid applause and cheers from family members.

Mr. Nuay said he had originally planned to buy a ticket ending in 15 from a village shop, but that number was sold out. He decided to buy only one ticket ending in 14. When the winning numbers were announced, his ticket matched the first prize, leaving him so happy he could hardly believe his eyes.

Furthermore, Mr. Nuay believes this good fortune is the result of consistent good deeds. For over 10 years, he has cooked two pots of rice every day to feed the dogs at the temple, praying to the temple’s sacred spirits that the merit he accumulated would help him win the first prize at least once in his life—a prayer he never expected would come true.

Regarding the 6 million baht prize money, Mr. Nuay said he plans to use it to pay off debts, make merit, build a house, and save for expenses to support himself in old age, having dreamed and done good deeds continuously until today when his intentions were rewarded with the biggest luck of his life.
