Lottery Enthusiasts Seek Lucky Numbers at Over 100-Year-Old Abandoned Sala at Nong Tao Temple

Locals seek lucky numbers at the 'Sala Kalap,' an abandoned sala over 100 years old at Nong Tao Temple, Ang Thong Province. They pray before drawing fortune sticks and lighting auspicious incense, obtaining desired lucky numbers for the 1 Aug 2026 lottery draw.

On 22 Jul 2026 at Sala Kalap, Nong Tao Temple, Village No. 5, Bang Plap Subdistrict, Pho Thong District, Ang Thong Province, locals and tourists visited to pay respects and photograph the beautiful Sala Kalap.

Nong Tao Temple is an abandoned temple over 100 years old, featuring the Sala Kalap beautifully surrounded by Bodhi trees. Local legends tell of villagers seeing a Thai-clothed man and woman emerge from the sala, dancing to traditional piphat music on Buddhist holy nights.

Today, Nong Tao Temple no longer stands except in legend, with only the ruins of the over 100-year-old sala remaining. The sala measures about 6 meters wide and 12 meters long, with large Bodhi and banyan trees growing in the center, providing shade over the sala. Near lottery draw dates, locals and tourists regularly visit to pay respects, take photos, pray, and seek lucky numbers. Those who receive luck often return to fulfill vows.

For this lottery draw, villagers seeking luck drew fortune stick number 811 and auspicious incense number 759, which many will use to try their fortune according to belief.
