On 28 July 2026, reporters observed that during a continuous 3-day holiday, over 2,000 tourists from all directions visited the Ai Somchun pavilion at Wat Songsawoei, Nong Noi Subdistrict, Wat Sing District, Chainat Province, taking turns to pay respects and whisper prayers. Many also prayed for career success, believing that Ai Somchun has helped several people achieve success, as seen from the many offerings overflowing the pavilion. Previously, a lucky woman from Phichit province made merit by lighting firecrackers with numbers that matched winning lottery numbers for four consecutive draws, becoming a social media sensation with many eagerly awaiting her next offering.
Each visitor brought favored offerings to Ai Somchun, such as red soda, snacks, toys, red children's clothing, and notably slingshots—Ai Somchun’s favorite toy. Ai Somchun was a disciple of Wat Songsawoei who drowned at the temple pier over a century ago. Villagers still believe his spirit appears and continues to grant luck to those who come to pay respects, with repeated reports of blessings over many draws.
