At 16:30 on 4 August 2026, reporters reported that at Chu Chee Canal, Village 4, Bang Jakreng Subdistrict, Mueang District, Samut Songkhram Province, an extraordinary event caused excitement when locals united to pull a large takhian log from the canal. The log had been seen floating upstream on its own to the village’s pier, astonishing those who saw it. This is a matter of personal belief.
Later, villagers, along with Mrs. Supap Kongraksa, Village Head of Village 4, Bang Jakreng Subdistrict, and Mr. Sirasophon Fuklin, Samut Songkhram Provincial Administrative Organization councilor, arranged for a crane to lift the takhian log from the water. Unexpectedly, after two attempts, the log refused to lift despite adding weight with a pickup truck on the crane. The operation was suspended due to safety concerns.
Following the incident, Village Head Supap consulted with a local medium, and they agreed to hold an official invitation ceremony and attempt to lift the log again on Thursday, 6 August at 09:00, which coincides with Teacher's Day and is considered an auspicious day. A new crane and ritual offerings will be used to place the log at the village shrine at the mouth of Chu Chee Canal, a sacred site long revered by the villagers.
Mrs. Supap Kongraksa, Village Head of Village 4, Bang Jakreng, said she initially doubted the report of a large tree, questioning if it was a trick of the eye. She went to inspect it herself in the evening and immediately felt the massive size—around 3 to 4 people embracing it but still not fully covering it. Remarkably, the log was initially submerged but then floated up fully visible. She lit incense to ask the log to join the village, and it then floated upstream following the boat, surprisingly. Additionally, auspicious numbers appeared: the boat’s registration was 07, and the firecracker tail number from the invitation ceremony was 70, fascinating those interested in lottery luck. Those who believe and want to make merit can share in the fortune.
Mr. Sirasophon Fuklin, Samut Songkhram Provincial Administrative Organization councilor, added that the crane operator was very confident, having handled many heavy lifts before, but this time the log would not lift. Even adding a pickup truck to assist failed, leading to concerns for safety and stopping the attempt. Moreover, when villagers took boats out, the takhian log floated upstream following them, as if intending to live with the villagers. This is truly a remarkable event.
