After 5 Years of Luck, Returns to Worship Luang Pho Somwang Hoping This Draws Lucky Numbers Bring Fortune for the 6th Year

Residents of Chaiyaphum traveled to pay respects and pray to Luang Pho Somwang stating they come once a year and have received luck for 5 years, hoping 'this draw's lucky numbers' will bring fortune for the 6th year

On 5 Aug 2026 GMT+7, reporters noted that at Wat Klang Bang Phra (Luang Pho Somwang) in Bang Phra Subdistrict, Nakhon Chai Si District, Nakhon Pathom Province, devotees continuously came to pay respects to the sacred Luang Pho Somwang, a Buddha image in the Mara Vichaya posture over 30 meters tall. It is revered by both Thai and foreign visitors, depending on individual faith and beliefs.

The atmosphere for making wishes was lively. Some brought many chicken eggs as offerings to fulfill vows, others large trays of fruit. Those who received great luck sometimes offered hundreds of pig heads, hundreds of trays of eggs, or hundreds of bags of rice to Luang Pho Somwang as promised.

Some offerings were given to the temple, others taken home to be shared as alms, or the temple distributed them to the needy under its charitable projects supporting the poor and disadvantaged, or to schools. The temple held a ceremony at the front plaza where offerings were placed, incense was lit and allowed to burn out, then gold leaf was applied to the Buddha's right hand before devotees paid respects at the outdoor blessing area, concluding with striking a victory gong to complete the vow fulfillment.

Mrs. Malai Jongwisutjai, 60, from Chaiyaphum, one of the devotees who came to pray to Luang Pho Somwang, said she has visited once a year for five years because her home is far away. Her faith in Luang Pho Somwang led her to come with a group of Chaiyaphum housewives five years ago. The first time, she prayed for luck, picked three numbers from eggs, and won a prize.

The second year she came again with her family while visiting Nakhon Pathom, stopped to pray and won the lottery again. She focused her intention on numbers every year, usually praying for luck and receiving it each time. This visit she came with her family, offering 20 trays of eggs, 20 bags of rice, and 20 packs of drinking water, then prayed for luck as before.

This time, she drew eggs from a jar to ask for lucky numbers, obtaining 6, 2, and 5. Beyond luck, she also prayed for success and safety for her children and family. She plans to return next year to pay respects and make offerings again.
