On 10 August 2026, reporters visited a house in Moo 2, Ban Khok Phatthana, Nong Kong Subdistrict, Nang Rong District, Buriram Province, where a Namwa banana plant was flowering. The sprout emerging from the plant had a peculiar shape, resembling lotus petals.
This attracted local residents who had heard the news to come continuously and view it. Some brought incense sticks and candles to light for blessings and to ask for lucky numbers, especially the house number 211 and numbers derived from the incense sticks, which they then interpreted as lucky numbers according to their personal beliefs.
Mrs. Sawat Manthong, 72, the homeowner, said she had planted several Namwa banana plants but had never seen anything like this before. After the recent Buddhist holy day, she noticed an unusual sprout while inspecting the banana plants. Upon closer look, it resembled a lotus flower, which surprised her, and she shared the story with neighbors, leading many people to come and see it.
Mrs. Sawat also said that she had frequently experienced receiving luck before. The previous night, she dreamed someone told her to buy pork, which she interpreted as a good omen according to her personal belief. She prayed for good health and continued luck during this period.
