Famous comedians "Ood Bentor and Ball Chernyim," accompanied by Baifern, donated 500 coffins in Chiang Mai Province before lighting incense in front of "Grandfather Thao Wessuwan," receiving lucky numbers on 16 Aug 2026 as lottery guidance.
At 10:00 a.m. on 16 Aug 2026, at Kantharam Temple (Thung O), San Pa Tong District, Chiang Mai Province, Mr. Theerachat Theerawitthayakul, known as Ood Bentor, along with Mr. Chatchai Jamniarkul, known as Ball Chernyim, and Miss Ratcharawiphat Phonboon, known as Baifern, jointly made merit by donating 500 coffins—including 7 refrigerated coffins, regular coffins, children's coffins, burial shrouds—to the abbot, Phra Mahabandit Yanamethi, for use in assisting the poor and needy in the future.
Mr. Theerachat Theerawitthayakul, or Ood Bentor, said he had intended to donate coffins regularly to various foundations nearly every month. When he had the chance to open a shabu restaurant in Chiang Mai, he invited friends and close associates, including Ball Chernyim and Baifern, to join this merit-making event. The donation included not only refrigerated coffins but also regular and children's coffins, totaling 500, along with burial shrouds, medical supplies, and dry food. Local villagers and newly ordained monks also participated, which deeply touched him, and he expressed his gratitude to everyone involved.
Ood Bentor also shared his life journey through the severe crisis caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. He explained that he had previously operated 70 shabu restaurant branches, but the outbreak forced all of them to close, resulting in debts amounting to 20 million baht. This caused significant stress, leading him to gradually sell nearly all unnecessary assets before starting anew.
"That experience taught me the importance of planning and saving in business. If I had savings back then, the hardship wouldn't have been so severe. Today, I want to encourage anyone feeling discouraged to stay calm, be mindful, use Dharma to heal the mind, and rise to fight again," Ood Bentor said.
Regarding future business plans, Ood Bentor revealed he intends to open a new shabu restaurant next month near Chedi Khao, close to Chiang Mai Municipality, aiming to rebuild his business based on his past experiences.
This was Ood Bentor's first time making merit at Kantharam Temple (Thung O). He was impressed by the temple's activities, which include public charitable work and a meditation center open for the public to study Dharma. Even with just one day, visitors can practice meditation and reflect inwardly.
Mr. Chatchai Jamniarkul, or Ball Chernyim, known for his luck and for sharing incense-derived numbers that have helped many win prizes, lit incense before the coffin donation ceremony. This time, the numbers 233 and 038 appeared to Ball Chernyim and Ood Bentor respectively.
However, Ball Chernyim emphasized that the numbers obtained from lighting incense are merely guidelines and depend on each individual's discretion.
