Woman Prays to Thao Wessuwan at Luang Pho Somwang Temple, Seeks Lucky Numbers for 1/9/26 Lottery

A female vendor from Nonthaburi traveled to pray to 'Thao Wessuwan' at Luang Pho Somwang Temple, lighting incense for divination and drawing eggs to request the 'lucky numbers for the 1/9/26 lottery'. She planned to try her luck in the lottery.

At 08:30 on 28 Aug 2026 GMT+7, a reporter at Wat Klang Bang Phra (Luang Pho Somwang), Bang Phra Subdistrict, Nakhon Chai Si District, Nakhon Pathom province, reported that many devotees and lottery seekers came to make merit and pay respects to Luang Pho Somwang, a sacred Buddha image over 30 meters tall. Some donated land, others offered Sangha Dana gifts.

Beside Luang Pho Somwang at the temple is the Chulamani Hall, built by the late revered monk Luang Pho Phut, former abbot of Wat Klang Bang Phra, to house the 'Thao Wessuwan' statue. The statue, over 2 meters tall and made of black plaster, was donated by the former abbot of Wat Chulamani. It attracts continuous worship and is reputed for granting luck and blessings.

After Luang Pho Phut passed away, he entrusted the current abbot, Phra Kru Srisutakorn, to care for and relocate the statue. Renovations improved the surroundings and restored the statue's broken or cracked parts, maintaining its original state with black paint. A worship chant was also created for devotees to recite.

All offerings are red-themed, including red cloth tied to the staff, red roses, and red incense sticks. Additionally, seven-color auspicious incense sticks corresponding to birth days—red, yellow, pink, green, orange, blue, and purple—are provided for devotees to light and seek lucky numbers.

Ms. Ladda Phonkrateng, 35, a vendor from Nonthaburi, said she came specifically to pray to Thao Wessuwan at Wat Klang Bang Phra, bringing her family together to make merit. She had never prayed here before; this was her first visit.

This time, she drew numbers 8, 9, and 0 from golden eggs and 9, 1, and 4 from auspicious incense sticks, hoping for good fortune and better business. She tied red cloth to Thao Wessuwan's staff, writing her name on it as per belief. She also passed her wallet and belongings under the staff for blessings, making a vow that if she wins a big prize, she will offer rice and red soda in thanks and share them with others visiting the temple.
