Devotees of superstition performed a holy water bathing ceremony on the auspicious 9/9 day at Wat Jaeng Nai in Nakhon Ratchasima province, praying to enhance their fortune and auspiciousness, while also seeking to buy lucky lottery numbers to try their luck on 16/9/26.
At 2:00 p.m. on 9 September 2026, at Wat Jaeng Nai in Nakhon Ratchasima municipality, Phra Kru Wornayok Sitthakhom and Phra Ajarn Maha Tor, the acting abbot of Wat Jaeng Nai, presided over the sacred holy water blessing ceremony on the auspicious 9/9 day. They used holy water collected from nine famous temples in the ritual to bring good fortune to faithful devotees.
Inside the temple, the atmosphere was lively as several hundred people from the province and nearby areas came to join the ceremony. Most came to receive holy water for auspiciousness, to boost morale, and to mark a new beginning in life. The temple allowed public participation free of charge.
Besides the holy water ceremony, many brought motorcycles, cars, and vans—especially new vehicles with red license plates—to receive blessings for good fortune before use. Owners believe that having their vehicles blessed on this auspicious date will bring safety and protection for the drivers and their families.
The temple also conducted various rituals, including chanting and meditation inside the Maha Utham ubosot. Attendees had the opportunity to pay respects and pray to Luang Pho Jaeng, the temple's revered sacred figure who provides spiritual support and auspiciousness. Ceremonies to remove curses and expel negative influences were also performed, reflecting participants' beliefs. These acts symbolize letting go of negativity and resolving to start anew with good deeds and mindful living.
Phra Ajarn Maha Tor explained that the 9th day of the 9th month holds significance in people's beliefs and faith, with the number 9 symbolizing progress and prosperity. The ceremony was organized to encourage devotees to use this auspicious day as motivation in their lives. He emphasized that the true value of the ritual lies not in expenses or rewards but in sincere commitment to goodness, mindfulness, and applying Buddhist principles in daily life.
