A finance officer surpassed her sales target and brought her family to offer coffins and white burial cloths to fulfill a vow to Luang Pho Somwang, not forgetting to shake fortune sticks to seek lucky lottery numbers, hoping for good luck after a major merit-making event.
On 9 September 2026 GMT+7, reporters observed that yesterday morning at Wat Klang Bang Phra (Luang Pho Somwang) in Bang Phra Subdistrict, Nakhon Chai Si District, Nakhon Pathom Province, devotees who revere Luang Pho Somwang—a sacred Buddha statue over 30 meters tall, revered by both Thais and foreigners—began arriving to pay respects and bring offerings to fulfill vows made earlier. This followed a quiet week at the temple.
Ms. Suwan Sin Saeng, 35, a finance officer at a company in Bangkok, came with her family early in the morning to make merit. She brought five coffins and 20 white burial cloths to present as vow fulfillment to Luang Pho Somwang, placing them neatly at the pavilion in front of the statue.
She then lit incense and candles, offered flowers to Luang Pho Somwang, and had her family present the white burial cloths as a Sangha donation. She also donated money to the Luang Pho Somwang Rescue Foundation. Afterwards, she placed gold leaf on the statue’s right hand and recited her vow fulfillment prayer.
Afterwards, Ms. Suwan revealed that she works in all types of finance arrangements. Earlier this year, she came to pray to Luang Pho Somwang during a time when her income was poor and many clients had dropped away. She feared being fired for not meeting sales targets. A friend recommended praying to Luang Pho Somwang, as many who did found success as they wished.
She came with her family to pray and vowed that if she succeeded this year with more clients and a promotion, she would bring offerings to fulfill her vow. After returning, things improved; clients contacted her more, enabling her to exceed targets, receive bonuses, and earn a promotion to team leader. She considers this a miracle and believes Luang Pho Somwang granted her blessings.
Ms. Suwan further explained that she told her relatives about her faith in Luang Pho Somwang and her plan to fulfill her vow with offerings. Her relatives advised donating useful items. After considering, she learned that Wat Klang Bang Phra hosts the Luang Pho Somwang Rescue Foundation, which runs 11 projects aiding the poor. She purchased coffins and white burial cloths to donate, along with money for the rescue unit, creating merit for the temple to assist unclaimed and impoverished bodies.
After completing her offerings, relatives encouraged her to shake the fortune sticks to receive lucky numbers for the lottery, believing her merit might bring further luck. She shook the sticks, drawing three numbers: 12, 24, and 9. Before leaving, she clasped her hands above her head in prayer, wishing for a big lottery win for her family and promising to return for a larger vow fulfillment.
