On 30 Sep 2026 GMT+7, reporters observed a ceremony around Surin Hospital’s ancient pond where offerings and dances were performed to honor the ancestral spirits and sacred entities linked to the hospital. The event aimed to bring peace and safety to medical staff, patients, and visitors. A Brahmin officiated, inviting the sacred entities to the hospital’s shrine. Offerings included the five ritual items (Khan 5), savory and sweet foods, fruits, as well as liquor and beer.
Before the ceremony began, light rain fell, prompting participants to stick lemongrass to drive the rain away according to traditional belief. Remarkably, the rain stopped immediately afterward, causing those present to feel a shiver of amazement.
