Two youth boxers came to pay respects to the statue of Luang Pho Doem before their matches, seeking luck from "Dek Chai Ko" according to tradition by shaking fortune sticks and drawing numbers from a jar to get "lucky numbers" for the 16/10/26 lottery.
On 14 October 2026 at Wat Nong Pho, also known as Wat Luang Pho Doem, the former renowned abbot nicknamed the "God of the Four Provinces" in Takli District, Nakhon Sawan Province, disciples continued to bring flowers, incense, and candles to pay respects at the statue replica near the entrance to the shrine.
Today, two young female boxers, Pakbung and Kungnang S. Somkorn from nearby Chainat Province, came to pay respects seeking blessings for good luck before their matches scheduled for late October and November.
Both shared that they usually come to pay respects to Luang Pho Doem’s statue, and especially before fight days, besides rigorous training, they come to pray for focus and mental support. After paying respects, the two also visited the dining hall where Luang Pho Doem once lived, to pay homage to the statue of Dek Chai Ko, a former temple boy who cared for Luang Pho Doem when he was alive.
Following their mother's advice, they performed fortune-telling by shaking the fortune sticks and drawing numbers from the jar at the statue of Dek Chai Ko, hoping for luck to fund boxing equipment. Pakbung drew the number 11 from the fortune sticks, while Kungnang drew number 555 from the jar, hoping these numbers bring luck in the lottery draw on 16 October.
