62-Year-Old Grandmother Wins 24 Million Baht in First Prize Lottery, Credits Pickup Truck License Plate Number

Somreung, a 62-year-old grandmother, won first prize in the lottery with four tickets, receiving 24 million baht. She revealed that she regularly buys tickets based on her pickup truck's license plate number, believing her luck is supported by merit-making ceremonies she recently held for her mother and father-in-law's 100th-day memorials.

On 1 November 2026 GMT+7, it was reported that Somreung Pongsut, also known as Grandmother Somreung, age 62, from Khung Phayom Subdistrict, Ban Pong District, Ratchaburi Province, won the first prize in the government lottery draw dated 1 November 2026. The winning number was 423224, and she held four tickets, receiving a total prize of 24 million baht.

Somreung shared with joy that before the lottery results were announced, she was watching the draw with her son. When she learned the winning number, she checked her tickets and noticed the last three digits, 224, matched the winning number's last three digits. At first, she thought she had won only the three-digit prize and happily told her son they might win almost 100,000 baht. Later, when she realized she had four first prize tickets worth 24 million baht, she could hardly believe her luck. She immediately asked her son to verify the news and details. Once he confirmed, she understood she had truly become a new millionaire.

Somreung said she was so overwhelmed with joy she nearly fainted. She quickly called her older sister to share the good news. Concerned for her sister's wellbeing, her older sister traveled to see her right away.

When asked about the source of her lucky number, Somreung revealed it was related to her pickup truck's license plate number, 4282, which she regularly uses to buy lottery tickets because she trusts this number.

The reporter asked about any premonitions before winning. Somreung said she had dreamed of catching large handfuls of shrimp and placing them into a bucket. Upon waking, she thought this dream might be a sign of upcoming good fortune.

Additionally, Somreung revealed that on 21 October 2026, she held a 100-day merit-making ceremony for her deceased mother. On the morning of 1 November 2026, the lottery draw day, she also conducted a 100-day merit-making ceremony for her father-in-law. Later that afternoon, she received the life-changing news, which filled her with joy. She believes that the merits she made for her parents may have helped bring her this great fortune.

Regarding her plans for the 24 million baht prize, Somreung said she will use part of the money to build a new, more secure and comfortable home. She intends to save the rest as capital for her future living expenses. Another goal is to build a new spirit shrine, as the existing one at her home is old. Previously, she had vowed that if she won a major prize, especially first prize, she would construct a beautiful new shrine. Now that she has won as she hoped, she plans to fulfill that vow.
