Watch as Thai Business Giants CP and Boonrawd Form Partnership to Expand Beverage Business and Enter Chinese Market

This has become a noteworthy development in the Thai business sector after Purit Piromya Phakdi, an executive from Boonrawd Brewery Group, posted a photo with CP Group executives on Instagram along with the brief message, “The beginning of something greater 懶,” indicating the start of something bigger.

What is interesting is not only the photo of executives from two major Thai business families together, but also the appearance of a new company name, CP BOONRAWD BEVERAGES TRADING (BEIJING) COMPANY LIMITED, which is believed to be a joint venture formed to expand beverage business opportunities in the Chinese market.

Watch the deal between two Thai business giants.

On the Boonrawd Brewery side, led by Purit Piromya Phakdi, the fourth-generation executive of the Piromya Phakdi family, currently serving as CEO of Boonrawd Brewery Company Limited and CEO of Boonrawd Trading Company Limited, he is a key leader driving the growth of the Thai beverage business empire with a history spanning over 90 years.

Boonrawd Brewery is a company specializing in food and beverage businesses, covering product development, production, quality control, brand building, and distribution, with major brands such as Singha and Leo.

It also manages more than 150 companies involved in non-alcoholic beverages and other products under Singha Corporation, an important company within the Boonrawd Brewery group.

Meanwhile, CP Group, led by Supakit Chiaravanont, Chairman of CP Group and a key executive of the Chiaravanont family, brings extensive international investment and business management experience.

CP’s strength lies in its overseas business networks, especially in China, where it began investing in 1979 during the early stages of China's economic reform and opening.

Over more than four decades, CP has continuously expanded its business in China from agriculture and food to retail, real estate, automotive, industry, and other sectors.

Additionally, CP already operates a beverage business in China through CP Beverage (Beijing) Co., Ltd., established in September 2021, which develops water sources and sells bottled water under CP Group brands.

New company targets the Chinese beverage market.

The establishment of CP BOONRAWD BEVERAGES TRADING (BEIJING) COMPANY LIMITED in Beijing is a strategically interesting move, as it establishes a direct business presence in the Chinese market rather than merely exporting products from Thailand through foreign distributors.

The partnership between the two groups has the potential to create synergy on multiple fronts, and if they effectively combine their strengths, it could help Thai beverage brands reach a broader Chinese consumer base, reduce market entry barriers, and increase long-term business expansion opportunities.

However, further details of this collaboration remain to be seen, as neither company has officially disclosed in-depth information about the deal.

This includes investment value, registered capital, shareholding proportions, management structure, and plans for business operations and products to be marketed in China.

From an investment perspective, China is one of the largest beverage markets globally, with a diverse population and purchasing power, alongside continuously changing consumption behaviors, making it a market with opportunities for entrepreneurs who can develop products that meet consumer needs.
