EssilorLuxottica, the global eyewear brand owner, and Top Charoen Optical have finalized their investment deal. EssilorLuxottica acquired a significant shareholding to officially become a strategic partner, reinforcing the long-term relationship between the two. They will expand the eyewear market in Thailand through Top Charoen Optical's network, the largest optical retailer in the country with over 2,000 branches nationwide.
This move highlights Thailand's role as a key hub for EssilorLuxottica in both production and global business operations. Through the partnership with Top Charoen Optical, EssilorLuxottica stated it aims to elevate eye care standards in the region and broaden consumer access to meet growing future demands for eye health.
EssilorLuxottica is a company specializing in the design, manufacture, and distribution of advanced eye care products, eyewear, and medical technology solutions. The company owns iconic brands such as Ray-Ban, Oakley, and Supreme.
Top Charoen Optical was founded in 1947, starting as a small shop in Saraburi province with the concept of providing comprehensive eye examinations via mobile vans in rural areas. The business expanded continuously and was listed as Ruamcharoen Pattana Public Company Limited on 5 June 2024. Last year, it reported revenue of 5.95 billion baht and a net profit of 401 million baht.
Top Charoen Optical operates under multiple brands, including Top Charoen, Luxoptic, Eye Class, Eye Bright, Eye Sport, Big C Optical, Robinson Optical, and Beautiful Optic, and has also expanded its online presence within the country.
Francesco Milleri, CEO, and Paul du Saillant, Deputy CEO of EssilorLuxottica, stated that this deal will strengthen the company’s presence in one of Asia’s key markets, raise eye care standards, and accelerate development of Wearable product lines in the region.
Smart eyewear products are currently gaining significant popularity. EssilorLuxottica is a key partner in AI smart eyewear innovation with Meta, producing Ray-Ban Meta and Oakley Meta Vanguard, as well as Nuance Audio smart glasses that assist hearing-impaired users by visually displaying speech.
This collaboration between EssilorLuxottica and Top Charoen Optical is expected to boost awareness and accessibility of eye health care in rapidly growing Asian markets. The company confirmed it will continue to expand global access to advanced eyewear products and eye care services.
