Marketing Roundup: TAT Prepares to Welcome Foreign Tourists During High Season

The Ministry of Tourism and Sports, through the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), has prioritized safety and service standards for foreign tourists visiting Thailand by launching the Trusted Thailand emblem, which represents confidence and assurance in traveling within the country.

In collaboration with various government and private agencies, the project evaluates tourism industry establishments and upgrades services, initially focusing on four categories: 1. Hotels, accommodations, and homestays; 2. Restaurants and dining places; 3. Shopping malls and centers; and 4. Recreational and tourist sites.

The safety assessment of tourism establishments includes general security measures to reassure tourists, such as installing CCTV at key locations, designating fire escape routes and emergency evacuation paths, training staff for security preparedness, and other safety-related factors specific to each type of establishment.

Payment security controls require establishments to build tourists' confidence by supporting safe and convenient payment systems, such as credit and debit card acceptance, E-Payment systems accommodating multiple currencies and channels, and safeguarding personal and payment information.

Regarding foreign language communication, establishments must ensure tourists' confidence by providing information and services in English or Chinese, including having staff proficient in these languages, using translation tools, and offering promotional or informational materials in English or Chinese to effectively communicate with tourists.

Safety in transportation access to establishments is also emphasized to reassure tourists, including convenient access via public transport, easily reachable routes, availability of shuttle services, and secure travel access to these locations.

The Trusted Thailand symbol not only elevates service standards within Thailand's tourism industry but also instills confidence in tourists using these services by guaranteeing their safety.

TAT believes that the Trusted Thailand project will improve safety service levels among tourism establishments, allowing foreign tourists—especially those from China—to travel in Thailand without worry. Moreover, this safety certification demonstrates readiness to facilitate and welcome tourists during the High Season.
