HUST to Showcase Digital Technology Photography at ICONSIAM

Ms. Xiao Xiao Wang, Director of the Office of Corporate Communications and Public Relations at Huazhong University of Science and Technology (HUST), said the Sino-Thai Youth Photography Exhibition reflects the results of the ODOS Summer Camp project, a scholarship program to expand opportunities and develop the country, operated by the Digital Economy Promotion Agency (depa).

In collaboration with HUST and vivo, the project offered 50 Thai youths the chance to attend a six-week summer camp at HUST in Wuhan, China, under the theme of Artificial Intelligence and Metaverse (AI & Metaverse).

vivo, as a strategic partner, provided high-performance smartphones for participants to capture images and funded the full exhibition, promoting the creative integration of technology and humanities.

Meanwhile, HUST and vivo plan to expand cooperation in research, personnel development, and internship programs to increase future employment and entrepreneurship opportunities for Thai youths.

Ms. Xiao Xiao Wang added that the ODOS camp’s AI and Metaverse curriculum is distinguished by its integrated learning approach combining theory, practice, and industry connections. Participants study fundamentals of Machine Learning and Neural Networks alongside applications of virtual reality technology and real industrial case studies, aligning with the Thailand 4.0 strategy and the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC) development toward a digital economy.

The exhibition displays photographs taken by Thai students during their actual experience in the program, conveying perspectives on learning, technology, and university life.

It also showcases innovation practice, cultural exchange with Chinese students, and views on society and life in China, under the concept "Digital Footprint: My Six-Week Journey at HUST."

“This exhibition not only presents artistic photography but also serves as a platform reflecting the intellectual growth, digital skills, and vision of Thai youth given international learning opportunities, underscoring education and technology as crucial tools for national human resource development,” she said.

Visitors to the exhibition can participate in interactive activities such as vivo’s new product trial zones, listen to award-winning student experiences, and explore inspirational spaces for those interested in technology studies. The target audience includes students, parents, educators, technology industry personnel, and the general public.

Besides the photo displays, the exhibition introduces visitors to HUST’s various aspects, including its curriculum, academic strengths, and international student admissions, with staff from the university’s international student promotion office providing close guidance. This is suitable for students, parents, and those interested in studying in China.

This exhibition is a significant event reflecting the success of educational, scientific, and innovative cooperation between Thailand and China, marking the 50th anniversary of their diplomatic relations. It also serves as an inspiring platform for Thai youth to broaden their perspectives, develop future skills, and step into the international education arena.

On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of Thai-Chinese diplomatic ties, HUST views educational cooperation as a key foundation for long-term relations. The goal is to produce Sino-Thai experts skilled in technology and cultural understanding to concretely link the Belt and Road Initiative with Thailand 4.0 strategy.

HUST also emphasizes inclusive education by selecting participants through an open, equitable process not limited to exam scores, aiming to discover diverse potential among Thai youth from all regions.

In the long term, HUST plans to expand cooperation to joint degree programs and collaborative research in AI, digital economy, and green technology fields, as well as establish an alumni network in Thailand to support lifelong learning, career development, and sustainable collaboration.

Huazhong University of Science and Technology invites the public, students, and interested individuals to experience stories of learning, friendship, and future technology through the Sino-Thai Youth Photography Exhibition at Napalai Terrace, 7th floor, ICONSIAM, Bangkok, from 9 to 18 January 2026, free of charge.
