FDA Advances Health Literacy Towards a Sustainable and Safe Society

Pharmacist Suphattra Boonserm, Secretary-General of the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), stated that the FDA has been advancing the policy to build Health Literacy, aiming to enhance Thai people's skills to access, understand, verify, and effectively use health information. The focus is on fundamental skills such as reading labels, checking FDA registration numbers, and recognizing exaggerated or false advertising online, so citizens can care for themselves and safely choose health products.

In the digital era where information flows freely through online media and social networks, containing both true and false content, the FDA recognizes the importance of empowering consumers. Therefore, it has accelerated the development of modern, easy-to-understand educational media, including video clips and infographics, distributed across all FDAThai platforms (Facebook, TikTok, YouTube, LINE Official Account).

At the same time, the FDA has joined forces with strong partner networks such as the FDA Noy Network, the Community Network for Health Product Safety, and village health volunteers (Aor Sor Mor) to disseminate accurate knowledge deeply into communities, covering all age groups. Under the vision FDA On Health Up to proactively protect consumers, the FDA not only provides knowledge but also emphasizes a modern consumer protection system through Smart Regulation.

This includes developing a digital database system that allows the public to conveniently and quickly verify FDA registration numbers and health products themselves, alongside proactive monitoring and enforcement against illegal advertising to break the cycle of false information that could harm the public.
