Rattanasiri Tilakskulchai, Managing Director of Tetra Pak (Thailand) Co., Ltd., stated that opening the new product development center in Rayong marks a significant step for Tetra Pak Thailand in building a comprehensive innovation ecosystem. This complements the services of the Customer Innovation Centre (CIC) that opened in Bangkok last year.
He explained that they aim to help manufacturers streamline and enhance product development seamlessly from initial concept to market launch. He expressed hope that this PDC would play a key role in positioning Thailand as a food and beverage innovation hub in the Asia-Pacific region. PDC Rayong spans over 3,700 square meters and comprises two interconnected main work areas.
These include the food and beverage processing solutions section and the food innovation development section. The center is equipped with a comprehensive semi-industrial production line supporting aseptic and non-aseptic processing and packaging, as well as development of various high-growth market product trends, such as:
Dairy products, ready-to-drink tea and coffee, fruit juices, plant-based dairy alternatives, nutritional supplements (high-protein drinks), ice cream, and ready-to-eat meals in Tetra Recart packaging. With PDC Rayong's full capabilities, food and beverage producers can:
1. Test formulas and manufacturing processes before commercial production, reducing risks and improving product quality.
2. Manage development costs effectively by experimenting with high-value or sensitive ingredients in near-industrial production conditions.
3. Accelerate time to market by providing comprehensive support from lab formula development, prototype production, to adjusting processes for real-world manufacturing.
4. Support domestic product development by allowing manufacturers and entrepreneurs to test new ingredients, formulas, and processes locally, while accessing Tetra Pak's global PDC network, each specializing in different food and beverage segments.
5. Build confidence before new product launches by enabling producers to analyze taste, texture, nutritional value, shelf life, and conduct consumer research on samples developed at the center.
PDC Rayong includes specialized laboratories and expert teams in food science, bioprocess engineering, and production processes to ensure all customer testing is backed by rigorous science and industrial expertise. The center is designed to accommodate businesses of all sizes, providing access to expert advice and industrial-grade quality assessment usually requiring significant investment.
The launch of Tetra Pak's new product development center in Rayong aligns with Thailand's role as the world's 12th largest food exporter, known as the 'Kitchen of the World,' and its ongoing efforts to enhance competitiveness in high-value food production. The food and beverage industry remains a key economic driver for the country and the regional supply chain.
The new PDC is located within the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC) in Rayong province and will collaborate with the CIC Bangkok center to drive end-to-end manufacturing innovation for entrepreneurs — from market research and product concept development to prototype trials and production efficiency evaluations at the PDC. This integration enables smooth product development at every stage.
Suphanat Rattanatip, Marketing Director of Tetra Pak (Thailand) Co., Ltd., added that the strength of PDC Rayong lies in combining world-class technology with experienced production process experts. They are ready to work alongside producers across all supported product groups to co-develop ideas, test new flavors and formulas, and improve ingredient utilization efficiency to help customers lead in today's fast-evolving market.
PDC Rayong officially launched as part of Tetra Pak's global network of 12 product development centers. It will begin offering commercial production trials to customers starting in Q2 2026. For more information about Tetra Pak's product development centers, please visit their website.
