Mr. Supot Chaiwatt Sirikul, Managing Director of Iconsiam Co., Ltd., stated that the Songkran festival is one of the most important periods for Thailand’s tourism and retail industry (Festival Economy). The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) forecasts that travel during this year's Songkran festival will generate approximately 30.35 billion baht domestically, a 6% increase compared to last year.
It is expected that around 500,000 foreign tourists will visit Thailand during the festival, a 4% increase (source: Bangkok Business). These figures have made Songkran one of Thailand’s most internationally attractive festivals, drawing tourists from around the world.
As a leader in organizing ICONIC EVENTS and delivering world-class experiences, Iconsiam announced it will host ICONSIAM THAICONIC SONGKRAN 2026. The event will present the rare charm of Thai traditions, elevating Thailand's Songkran festival to a Global Festival under the theme of splashing, fun, happiness, and auspiciousness.
The festival will gather icons of Thailand across all dimensions—from cultural heritage and national symbols to contemporary representatives—to honor and preserve the beauty of Thai culture. It promises a vibrant Songkran celebration filled with pride in national identity and outstanding experiences by the Chao Phraya River.
This reinforces Iconsiam’s image as a Global Experiential Destination, a world-class experience hub. The annual Songkran festival is a vital time for Thailand’s economy, affecting tourism, retail, and consumer spending. This event is expected to stimulate domestic tourism and attract international visitors, improving economic circulation in the second quarter of this year.
Mr. Supot added that Songkran is not only the Thai New Year celebration but also a key attraction for both Thai and international tourists to experience a world-class Songkran by the Chao Phraya River. It is expected that at least 1.4 million visitors, both Thai and foreign, will participate in the water celebrations at Iconsiam, making it one of Bangkok’s most popular Songkran destinations.
The attendees are estimated to be evenly split between Thai nationals and international tourists, about 50% each. Additionally, the Songkran festival helps boost shopping center spending by approximately 40% compared to normal periods.
Highlights delivering a THAICONIC experience that blends Thai cultural heritage with contemporary entertainment include:
• Splashing happiness and fun along the Chao Phraya River with the Water Landmark—a giant 9-meter-tall Thai elephant fountain—and a Kids Zone, a water play area for children and families.
• Exciting entertainment featuring 76 leading artists gathered in one place.
• Joyful Thai traditions with a spectacular Nang Songkran parade represented by contemporary icons Ling Om and 4EVE, valuable cultural performances, and authentic Thai cuisine from the four regions of the country.
• Auspicious blessings welcoming the Thai New Year by pouring water on the Buddha image in the granting pose, bringing sacred water from nine famous temples, and paying respects to Luang Pho Ngern, a sacred Buddha statue over 700 years old, along with Phra Upakut and birthday Buddha images at Muang Suk Siam.
This grand Thai Songkran event at Iconsiam highlights the intangible cultural heritage recognized by UNESCO and reinforces Iconsiam’s image as a Global Experiential Destination offering a comprehensive Thai New Year celebration. The festival will take place from 10 to 15 April 2026 at River Park, Iconsiam.
