Pol. Col. Surapong Plengkam, Secretary-General of the Personal Data Protection Committee (PDPC), said they are preparing a significant event for the PDPC’s 4th anniversary on 25 June 2026. This event will not only reflect the achievements over four years of driving the PDPA law but also serve as a key forum to set Thailand’s future personal data protection direction amid new challenges from AI, deepfakes, cyber threats, scam economies, and ongoing global data breaches.
The event will feature a special panel discussion titled "4th Anniversary PDPC Thailand: Progress and Development in Personal Data Protection and Driving Thailand’s Digital Economy and Society." It gathers executives and policymakers in personal data protection, led by the Chairperson of the Personal Data Protection Committee and the Chairperson of the PDPC Supervisory Board, to review lessons from the past four years and exchange views on PDPA’s role in the rapidly evolving digital economy and artificial intelligence (AI) era.
Another highlight not to be missed by businesses is a special lecture on applying for the Personal Data Protection Standard Certification Mark. This mechanism plays a crucial role in elevating Thai organizations' personal data management standards to gain international recognition. The certification mark signals to partners, investors, and the public that an organization maintains a standardized personal data protection system, practices good data governance, and genuinely respects data owners' rights.
This will be a key factor in building business confidence in the Data Economy era. The PDPC’s event marks an important step in tightening and upgrading data protection measures in the second half of the year, particularly in handling data breaches, responsible AI use, and advancing Thai organizations toward internationally comparable personal data governance standards.
Where Thailand’s PDPA is headed will be revealed at this 4th anniversary event, an important milestone for enhancing the country’s digital confidence in 2026. The event’s live broadcast can be followed on 25 June via the PDPC’s official Facebook page, Personal Data Protection Committee - PDPC.
