Market Roundup: Ministry of Commerce Encourages Value-Added Shopping to Boost Economic Worth

The Ministry of Commerce, through its Office of the Permanent Secretary, launched the Thailand Local SDGs Plus Expo 2026, gathering over 200 capable entrepreneurs nationwide to create a comprehensive trade platform. The opening ceremony was honored by Ms. Banjongjit Angsusingh, Advisor to the Minister of Commerce, as chairperson, along with Lieutenant Chakara Yodmanee, Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Commerce, ministry executives, private sector representatives, entrepreneurs, and media attending the event.

Ms. Banjongjit stated that the Ministry of Commerce drives economic trade policies under the MOC+ vision, aiming to enhance the capabilities of entrepreneurs across all 76 provinces to produce and develop products aligned with new trade trends and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Currently, consumers consider not only price and quality but also the environmental and social impacts of products.

Supporting Thai entrepreneurs who produce goods with environmental and social considerations plays a crucial role in strengthening the grassroots economy and demonstrates the potential of Thai entrepreneurs to develop products competitive in the international eco-friendly market.

A key objective of the event is to elevate the exhibition beyond a sales venue into a business opportunity platform where entrepreneurs can develop capabilities, build networks, and expand into new markets through Business Matching activities connecting local producers with department stores, hotels, buyers, and partners domestically and internationally. The target is to generate economic value of no less than 500 million baht.

The event features product displays and sales, Business Matching negotiations, Design & Innovation Clinics, and signing of memoranda of understanding (MOUs) among private sector participants to link Thai entrepreneurs to new trade opportunities. The public is invited to "shop with value" from 21–23 August 2026 at Hall 7, LG Floor, Queen Sirikit National Convention Center, with free admission throughout.
