Nathee Thianpairoj, CEO and Grand Master T, a renowned Thai expert in Permanent Makeup (PMU) from CT Studio and developer of the 9D Lip technique and international lip tattoo champion, said that his experience competing, showcasing work, and exchanging knowledge with Masters and Artists from many countries has clearly shown that Thai talent can proudly compete on the international stage.
"After meeting Masters and Artists from various countries, I clearly see that Thai skills are not inferior to anyone. We possess the expertise, precision, and standards to compete globally."
Nathee said that at the start of entering competitions, his main goal was to prove how far Thai Artists' skills could reach when standing alongside experts from other countries. However, as he had opportunities to compete, be a Speaker, and experience international PMU standards more, his perspective shifted from questioning how skilled they could be to how far they could take Thai talent.
"Once we became Speakers and had chances to share our work internationally, we felt we didn't want to go alone but wished other Thai Artists could have the same opportunities. We want foreigners to see that Thailand has many talented professionals in this field."
This mindset became a key goal for CT Studio, focusing on developing new Artists, transferring knowledge, and creating a new perspective that PMU is more than a beauty service—it can evolve into a global profession, bringing Thailand recognition through techniques like 9D Lip and 9D Brow.
Another outcome from traveling, competing, and exchanging techniques with Artists worldwide is bringing those experiences back to enhance their own work, resulting in Grand Master T's 9D Lip Technique and Master Claudia's 9D Brow.
Nathee explained that the essence lies not just in creating new technique names but in continuously applying knowledge, experience, and details to refine the work, making it meticulous, natural, and personalized.
Currently, when Grand Master T and Master Claudia are invited as Speakers or to demonstrate their work abroad, these techniques are presented internationally as examples developed by Thai Artists. This shows that Thai talent is not limited to meeting foreign standards but can develop its own knowledge, techniques, and approaches. The next goal is to attract foreigners to Thai expertise.
Regarding the future of Thailand's PMU industry, Nathee believes success should go beyond Thai Artists traveling, winning awards, or being invited abroad. The bigger goal is to make Thailand a Permanent Makeup destination chosen by people worldwide.
"I don't want foreigners to recognize only CT Studio. I want them to think of Thailand when it comes to quality PMU and want to travel here to receive services from Thai Artists."
Nathee sees that if Thailand can collectively elevate skills, standards, safety, personnel development, and create a distinctive Thai Artist identity continuously, PMU can grow from a beauty service business into part of Thailand's Beauty Soft Power, generating reputation, income, and long-term economic opportunities for the country.
Especially as Thailand already excels in beauty, health, and tourism industries, raising PMU to meet international standards could further encourage foreign consumers to choose Thailand as their destination.
From the days when Thai Artists had to prove their skills on the world stage, it could evolve into a time when the world comes to Thai talent. For Grand Master T, the initial journey started with wanting to prove how skilled they could be, but today’s goal is how widely Thai skills can gain global acceptance and how to make Thailand a top global PMU destination.
