CHANG HomePro Encourages Repairing Before Discarding to Extend Appliance Lifespan and Cut Costs

Mr. Theerapol Rodchuey, Assistant Managing Director of Service Group at CHANG HomePro, a division of Home Product Center Public Company Limited (HomePro), stated that nowadays, people are often encouraged to replace appliances with new ones when problems arise. However, many types of electrical appliances can still be repaired and have their lifespan extended for several more years if properly maintained.

Often, household items are not broken beyond use; rather, we become accustomed to minor irregularities and neglect maintenance. Yet these signs may be the beginning of more serious damage in the future. Sometimes what we think needs replacing is actually just in need of proper care.

The concept of repairing before discarding is not only about saving money but also about helping consumers maximize the use of their resources for as long as possible, while reducing waste from the outset.

Based on CHANG HomePro's service experience, most electrical appliances show warning signs before serious damage occurs—such as unusual noises, operational difficulties, or reduced performance while still usable. Early inspection and repair can help cut costs by delaying the need to buy replacements.

This extends the appliance's lifespan by several years. While many Thais regularly maintain their vehicles, electrical appliances that we use daily often receive less attention, despite being essential devices in everyday life.

This idea is reflected in the success of the annual "Free Repair! Electrical Appliances" home care festival, where consumers brought in over 97,006 appliances and tools for free inspection and repair to extend product life. This shows that many Thais are willing to maintain and repair existing items if convenient, accessible, and trustworthy services are available.

“Encouraging people to repair is not difficult, but the key is to build confidence that repaired items will function reliably. That is why CHANG HomePro emphasizes high service standards at every stage,” he said.

Currently, CHANG HomePro has over 3,000 professional technician teams nationwide, all trained and certified to the same standards, with a policy of not abandoning jobs, transparent pricing, and service warranties up to 365 days to ensure confidence and make home care easier and more reassuring.

Besides saving consumers money, repairing and extending the life of electrical appliances is an important approach to reducing electronic waste (E-Waste), which is an environmental challenge for the country. Appliances that have reached end-of-life can be brought into the "Trade Old for New, Save the Planet" program for proper management and resource recovery.

This time, HomePro is holding its annual home care festival, "Free Repair! Electrical Appliances and Tools," from 3–5 July 2026 at all HomePro and Mega Home branches nationwide. Special offers include air conditioner cleaning at 399 baht, free door installation service worth 1,000 baht with purchase, free painting and grouting repair for the first 2 square meters, and a 10% discount on services purchased from CHANG HomePro during the event.
