Investment interest in artificial intelligence (AI) remains strong, and one of the sectors benefiting most directly is the semiconductor group—the chip manufacturers that form the core infrastructure of AI globally.
For investors wanting to increase exposure specifically to the semiconductor theme, the iShares Semiconductor ETF, known as SOXX, is one of the most popular ETFs, as it consolidates leading U.S. chip stocks into a single fund.
This fund is managed by BlackRock, a global asset management giant, under its iShares brand, with assets under management totaling around 42.6 billion U.S. dollars, or over 1.37 trillion baht.
SOXX aims to closely track the NYSE Semiconductor Index, which selects approximately 30 U.S.-listed semiconductor companies, covering chip designers, manufacturers, and semiconductor equipment producers.
A key feature of SOXX is its passive management strategy, weighting holdings by market capitalization but capping the top five stocks at 8% each and other individual stocks at 4%, preventing excessive concentration in any single company. The fund's expense ratio is 0.33% per year.
SOXX is a sector-specific fund, with the largest weightings concentrated in the world’s leading processing chip and semiconductor equipment companies, including:
1. NVDA - NVIDIA Corp. (9.93%) The global leader in AI processing chips and GPUs, a vital component of AI infrastructure.

(Note: Data as of 3 September 2026 / Source: iShares by BlackRock)
Currently, SOXX holds shares in 30 companies, with the top 10 stocks accounting for approximately 61.94% of the total portfolio.
Investors who see long-term growth potential in the semiconductor industry and want targeted exposure without picking individual stocks may find SOXX a suitable choice. However, this comes with higher volatility compared to broadly diversified funds due to its concentration in a single sector.
