The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) The SET has revised its listing criteria to reflect the new economic environment and international norms, expanding opportunities for New Economy companies across 10 targeted industries to raise capital more readily in the Thai capital market, while maintaining existing standards for quality, financial health, and disclosure.
Assadech Kongsiri, Director and Managing Director of the Stock Exchange of Thailand, revealed that over the past 30 years, the business structure of companies listed on the Thai capital market has hardly changed, while the New Economy industries are rapidly growing and require truly accessible sources of capital.
This improvement in listing criteria is a significant step in elevating the Thai capital market under the 3-year strategic plan (2026-2028) with the vision "The Trusted Gateway to Inclusive Opportunities." The new rules will facilitate faster capital raising for companies promoted by the Board of Investment (BOI) and the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC), as well as leading foreign companies.
Quality standards will still be upheld, and importantly, this opens opportunities for Thai investors to grow alongside these future-oriented industries.
These criteria have been developed after consultations with stakeholders and approved by the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), taking effect from 11 September 2026, with key points as follows:
1. Revising qualification criteria for companies in 10 New Economy industries to enhance their attractiveness for capital raising and listing on the SET.
It also establishes appropriate criteria (Special Track) for companies promoted by the Board of Investment (BOI) and the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC).
2. Adjusting public offering rules for foreign companies already listed and raising funds on overseas exchanges to allow them to use Secondary Listing rules, matching their capital raising needs while ensuring sufficient share liquidity and trading volume on the SET.
Foreign companies listed in Unrecognized Countries1 must still meet other criteria similar to Thai companies, including quality, financial status, performance, free float distribution, and disclosure under current rules.
3. Revising the Silent Period rules that restrict share sales after listing—both the proportion and duration for all newly listed companies—to better align with international standards, while maintaining requirements for strategic shareholders to hold shares for an appropriate period to build investor confidence.
