In March 2026, the Royal Gazette announced key measures to support clean energy use in households. The Revenue Department specified tax measures to promote Solar Rooftop system installation for residences, with the main objective being
Individuals installing solar power systems on their house roofs can deduct actual expenses for equipment purchase and installation from personal income tax, up to a maximum of 200,000 baht.
The installation must be an On-Grid system connected to the electricity authorities (MEA or PEA).
Use a full electronic tax invoice (e-Tax Invoice) as proof.
The measure is effective from 3 March 2026 until 31 December 2028.
The right can be used once and for only one system during the entire program.
Homeowners must prepare to meet government conditions as follows.
It must be a genuine residence: the Solar Rooftop system must be installed on the roof or within the residence area for home use only.
The applicant must be the owner: the name on the installation receipt and certificates must match the person filing the tax.
Installation size: the measure covers self-use installations up to 10 kWp for typical residential homes.
The permitting process: must obtain proper approval for grid parallel connection from the electricity authority (MEA or PEA) according to regulations.
Charuwan Phiphatputthapan Specialist Scientist and Head of Monitoring and Evaluation Group, Solar Energy Development Division, Department of Alternative Energy Development and Efficiency, Ministry of Energy (DEDE). She revealed that this measure is designed to support citizens’ expenses to increase energy security, as a 5 kW Solar Rooftop installation can save about 2,000-2,500 baht per month on electricity bills.
From the perspective of Solar Rooftop service providers, Ekapat Panyakao, CEO of A-Solar Corporation Co., Ltd. He stated that customer demand has clearly increased, with installations up about 30–40%. The popular model is a 5 kW Solar Rooftop with battery backup, with installation costs starting in the low hundred-thousands baht range, depending on the structure of each home.
Another manufacturer, ION Energy compared this phenomenon to the transition to the EV era, where government acts as a key accelerator for public spending. They shared that homes with average monthly electricity bills over 3,000 baht can reduce costs by about 30-40% after installing solar, with a payback period of about four years.
As a result, ION Energy launched the “Triple Benefit Solar Installation” campaign.
Benefit 1: Free site survey—teams will inspect the site and provide free installation consultation.
Benefit 2: 0% solar installment payments—partnering with leading credit cards and banks such as SCB, KBank, Krungsri, TTB, and others offering up to 10 months 0% installment plans.
Benefit 3: Proactive convenience—partnering with major property developers’ property management firms to offer popular solar packages tailored to each home group.
The campaign aims to increase new installations by 2,000 homes.
From the financial institution side, KTC, Nutsit Suntaranu, Chief Marketing Officer of KTC Credit Card, revealed that comparing data before and after the tax deduction measure, average spending on KTC cards in the Solar Roof category rose by 110%, and transaction counts grew by 40%, reflecting strong public demand for access to this energy source.
KTC, together with 21 Solar Rooftop service partners, offers special privileges to customers,
including 0% installments for up to 10 months with KTC credit cards or KTC Proud cash cards.
Cashback is provided according to specified conditions.
Customers can redeem KTC FOREVER points for an additional 13% cashback.

As electricity bills become a “fixed cost” for every household amid economic and environmental crises, using tax deduction rights alongside financial solutions is a wise way to manage resources for value and sustainability.
