6 Benefits People Often Forget to Claim, Updated for 2026! From Dental Care to Unemployment and Sleep Tests

Amid rising daily expenses, monthly costs are also increasing. For those contributing to social security, starting in 2026, the Social Security Office has raised the salary ceiling to 17,500 baht, pushing the maximum contribution to 875 baht per month (up from 750 baht).

Naturally, with higher contributions, benefits increase as well. Today, Thairath Money gathers new benefits or rights that many people may not know exist and presents them here.

1. Unlimited dental benefits now capped at 900 baht per year!

Previously, dental treatments such as extractions, scaling, or wisdom tooth removal under social security were limited to a 900 baht annual cap. The new benefit clearly separates coverage amounts—for example, removable dentures range from 1,500 to 6,000 baht depending on number and type, while wisdom tooth extraction costs range from 1,500 to 2,500 baht per tooth depending on the case.

Additionally, before undergoing dental treatment, you can check with clinics or hospitals whether they participate in the Social Security Office (SSO) program, as most do not require upfront payment. Importantly, confirm service conditions clearly, as some insured persons have faced issues where after treatment, the SSO system was not yet updated, causing them to pay out of pocket first and claim reimbursement later.

Main conditions:

  • You must have contributed for at least 3 months within 15 months before receiving the service.
  • Even after leaving a job, dental benefits continue for up to 6 months.

2. Unemployment benefits require notification within 30 days.

Whether you resign or are laid off, insured persons can receive unemployment compensation. Basic conditions are as follows.

In case of resignation: 30% of wages for up to 90 days, capped at 15,750 baht.

In case of dismissal: 60% of wages for up to 180 days, capped at 63,000 baht (based on a 17,500 baht salary ceiling).

Main conditions:

  • You must register as unemployed within 30 days from the resignation, dismissal, or contract end date. Registration can be done online athttps://e-service.doe.go.th/You must report monthly online once to continue receiving payments.
  • You must have contributed for at least 6 months within 15 months before unemployment with your last employer.
  • Unemployment must be at least 8 days, including cases other than dismissal.Cases of fraud and others.

3. Free health check-ups!

Insured persons under Sections 33 and 39 are entitled to free annual health check-ups! These include 14 tests such as hearing screening, complete blood count (CBC), urine test, fasting blood sugar (FBS), blood lipid profile, etc. (tests may vary by age group).

You can check the list of participating healthcare facilities contracted with the Social Security Office, make appointments in advance, and bring your ID card when attending. For questions, call the 24-hour hotline at 1506.

Main conditions:

  • Health check-up items depend on age group.
  • Always verify your eligibility with the healthcare provider before using the service.

4. Reimbursement for Sleep Tests! For sleep apnea patients.

Sleep is fundamental to good health, but sleep-related disorders may require costly diagnosis and treatment. Patients with sleep apnea can now claim reimbursement for Sleep Tests, covering three main items:

1. Type 1 sleep study (polysomnography) with overnight monitoring by staff; SSO reimburses actual costs up to 7,000 baht.

2. Type 2 sleep study (polysomnography) without overnight staff monitoring; reimbursed up to 6,000 baht.

3. Continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) devices and related accessories reimbursed at specified rates:

- CPAP machine up to 20,000 baht per set.

- Nasal or oral masks for CPAP up to 4,000 baht each.

Main conditions:

  • You must receive testing and treatment at authorized healthcare facilities according to your rights (subject to physician approval).

5. Life changes… Annual hospital transfer eligibility.

Many may not know insured persons can change their designated hospital once a year, typically before March 31. The SSO provides five methods to request a hospital transfer:

  • Social Security Office LINE Official Account
  • SSO Plus application
  • Via websitewww.sso.go.th
  • Government applications
  • Submitting form SSO 9-02 at any Social Security Office nationwide.

6. Child support payments.

For parents insured under Sections 33 and 39, they can claim child support of 1,000 baht per month per child, up to three children per month. This benefit applies from birth until the child reaches six years old.

Main conditions:

  • You must have contributed for at least 12 months within 36 months before the month you claim benefits.
  • The child must be a legal child, excluding adopted children.
  • Only one parent (father or mother) can claim the benefit, not both.

These six points are just some of the benefits for insured persons. If unsure about your rights, you can check via the SSO Plus app to review your contribution history, benefits, and personal insured data, or call the toll-free hotline 1506.
