If you had 1 million baht and had to invest in just one asset for 10 years, which would you trust with your future? This was the question posed on the stage of The Millionaire Race: 1 Million, 10 Years—Stocks, Gold, Real Estate, Bitcoin—Which Asset Will Change Your Life? at MONEY FEST 2026: The Money Game Level Up Your Life!
Representatives of the four asset classes took the stage, each presenting their case. Stocks emphasized profits and dividends; real estate played the leverage of bank loans; Bitcoin bet on speed and new financial systems; while gold relied on its millennia-old history as proof. No side gave way, and here are the key points that won audience approval.
Sun-Krasit Jarusira, CEO of Super Trader Republic Co., Ltd., said stocks’ strength lies in investors being able to value companies based on real performance—revenue, profit, dividend history, and future prospects.
Investing 1 million baht in stocks yielding 7% dividends annually would generate about 70,000 baht cash flow in the first year. Reinvesting dividends accelerates portfolio growth via compound interest, alongside potential capital gains from stock price increases.
Stocks’ key advantage is that investors don’t need to build or compete in business themselves—just choose good companies, buy shares, and let management generate profits.
"If you want to own a business, why fight yourself? Buy stocks and wait for dividends—isn’t that easier?"
However, Sun admitted if the 1 million baht is risk capital, Bitcoin might be chosen for higher returns, but if it is the investor’s entire life savings, stocks remain his 100% choice.
Kim-Chatchawan Watthanasot, investor and owner of the Kim Property Live page, said 1 million baht may not be enough to buy real estate outright but can serve as a down payment, leveraging bank loans to increase purchasing power.
The same amount could enable ownership of assets worth 10 million baht and generate returns from both rental income and property appreciation if location and management are well chosen.
"1 million baht may seem small, but in real estate, it is the down payment for a 10 million baht property."
Another advantage is owners can control the property themselves—choosing location, decorating, targeting tenants, and adjusting income methods—so they need not rely solely on market price increases.
However, real estate does not grow everywhere; location matters. Areas with strong economies, tourism, or landmarks offer better opportunities than just buying because prices are low.
Chit-Wichit Saikla, systems engineer and Bitcoiner, positioned Bitcoin as having the greatest potential to turn 1 million baht into much more, citing an average 50% annual return over the past 14 years.
Bitcoin trades 24/7, can be transferred across borders, and holders can store it themselves without relying on intermediaries or institutions.
Regarding its wild price swings, Wichit distinguishes "volatility" from "risk," comparing it to ocean waves: people on a plane see calm seas, but those on a boat see the waves clearly—seeing waves doesn’t mean the boat is sinking. Bitcoin’s key advantage was directed at its competitor, gold.
"Bitcoin’s only competitor is gold, but I sold all my gold to buy Bitcoin."
Wichit predicted Bitcoin might reach 30 million baht per coin in 10 years, while gold could rise to 120,000 baht per baht-weight. To him, both assets are in the same league, but Bitcoin is more liquid and accessible to smaller investors.
Dr. Kritchat Hiranyasiri, CEO of MTS Gold Group, chose gold's history—thousands of years of adapting through world changes, from ancient times to the AI era.
1 million baht can be used to buy gold gradually—bars, jewelry, or digital gold—so you don’t need to spend all at once and can easily convert back to cash.
In a world of high debt, inflation, and economic uncertainty, gold preserves value. Though prices fluctuate with market conditions, over the long term gold has risen from about 400 baht per baht-weight to tens of thousands today.
"Gold is like noodles—once the price rises, it never goes back to 30 baht per bowl."
Gold representatives acknowledged stocks are interesting but require time and knowledge to pick companies. For those less familiar with other assets, gold is a simpler, easier answer.
Strengths: historical backing, high liquidity, fractional buying, inflation hedge.
Gold wins with “proven stability.”
The answer depends not on which asset is best but on how meaningful that 1 million baht is to your life. If it’s all you have, preserving principal may matter more than chasing returns. If it’s risk capital, investors might accept volatility for higher growth potential. Those willing to borrow and manage property may leverage real estate to multiply funds. The asset with the greatest life-changing potential can also cause the greatest harm if chosen without understanding what you hold.Read stock and investment news with Thairath Money to help you achieve “Good Finance, Good Life” at
