OpenAIs Revenue Soars to Over $62.2 Billion in 2025, Focuses on Practical AI Use

OpenAI revealed that its 2025 annual revenue surged beyond $20 billion, or more than 622 billion baht, marking a significant jump from about $6 billion (approximately 186.72 billion baht) in 2024. This growth also corresponds with the company's expansion of its computing infrastructure.

, Sarah Friar, Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of OpenAI disclosed in a blog post last Sunday that the company's computing capacity will increase to 1.9 gigawatts (GW) in 2025, up from just 0.6 GW the previous year and 0.2 GW in 2023. This boost supports rapid global expansion in daily and monthly user numbers.

Additionally, last week OpenAI announced it will introduce advertising on its platform, marking a new strategy to accelerate revenue growth. The company also plans to go public this year.

Accelerating "Practical Adoption" in 2026

Sarah Friar further revealed that in 2026, OpenAI will focus on “Practical Adoption,” especially in healthcare, science, and business sectors, where AI can clearly deliver valuable outcomes.

“The key mission is to bridge the gap between AI’s current potential and its real-world practical applications. This is a huge opportunity that must be seized immediately, particularly in healthcare, science, and business, where better intelligent systems directly translate into tangible improved results.” Sarah Friar said.

OpenAI’s current platform encompasses text, images, audio, code, and APIs. The next phase of development will focus on “agents” and workflow automation systems capable of continuous, long-term, autonomous operation, including seamless cross-tool functionality.

Moreover, Chris Lehane, OpenAI's Chief Policy Officer, stated that the company is progressing as planned to launch its first hardware device, expected within the second half of 2026.
