"OpenClaw is currently the largest, most popular, and most successful open-source project in human history."
Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang told CNBC that the open-source AI platform OpenClaw is... "definitely the next ChatGPT."
During his keynote at Nvidia GTC in San Jose, California, Jensen Huang spoke about OpenClaw, an open-source AI platform featuring autonomous agents that go beyond ordinary chatbots. Instead of just answering questions, these agents can act, make decisions, and carry out tasks independently, relying very little on user input.
At the same time, Nvidia unveiled NemoClaw, essentially an enterprise version of OpenClaw enhanced with Nvidia’s software and ecosystem tools. The goal is to make these powerful AI agents safe, scalable, and ready for real-world business applications.
Jensen Huang described this technology as a major structural shift that could greatly expand human capacity to use AI, marking an important step in how people will interact with AI in the future.
"With just one line of code, you can create your own agent, then simply tell it to do whatever you want," he said.
He gave a real-life example such as kitchen design, where OpenClaw agents can learn from images, study design tools, experiment with new ideas, and automatically improve their work.
"It will learn how to design a kitchen, then come back with a design, evaluating and refining its own work," he explained, noting that the system improves work quality by reflecting on its own results, which also elevates human work. He added, "Every carpenter can become an architect; every plumber will become an architect. We are elevating everyone’s potential."
However, the rapid growth of autonomous AI agents like OpenClaw has raised concerns about safety, privacy, and control, especially as these systems gain the ability to act largely without human intervention.
This is where Nvidia sees its role, through NemoClaw, which has built-in safeguards or guardrails such as personal data protection, governance tools, and enterprise-level security to ensure AI agents can be deployed widely and safely.
