Before Traveling for New Year 2026, Free Vehicle Checkups Offered Including Fluids, Filters, and Suspension

Free vehicle checkups The Department of Land Transport invites the public to receive free vehicle inspections before traveling during New Year 2026, without any service charges, including checks of fluids, filters, and suspension at network service centers nationwide.

Mr. Sorapong Paitoonpong, Director-General of the Department of Land Transport, stated that the New Year festival is a long holiday period when many people travel back to their hometowns and tourists visit various destinations, leading to heavy road usage.

Ensuring vehicles are in good condition is important for driver safety. The Department of Land Transport, in collaboration with public and private partners, has organized the "Free Vehicle Inspection for Safe Driving" campaign to provide basic pre-trip inspections for cars and motorcycles covering more than 20 items at no cost, such as:

  • Brake system inspection
  • Tire condition
  • Engine performance
  • Engine oil level and oil cleanliness
  • Radiator and leak inspection
  • Air filter
  • Operation of headlights and various signal lights

Additionally, some agencies offer checks on ball joints, wheel bearings, fuel tanks, fuel pipes and connectors, and provide discounts on some spare parts. Vehicle owners can bring their cars and motorcycles to service centers of public and private network partners nationwide displaying signs for the free vehicle inspection campaign from now until 31 Dec 2025.

Moreover, drivers must strictly follow traffic laws, study and plan their routes, and prepare physically for long-distance driving. They should rest sufficiently and, if feeling tired or drowsy during travel, stop at rest areas. Extra caution is advised when driving on unfamiliar routes to ensure safer travel during the New Year 2026 festival.
